Do you know where saves are kept? I can't find them.
Note, AppData is a hidden folder, so you need to make those visible. There are 2 files save#.hg and mf_save#.hg, and a game uses two save files, so if you maxed out your save slots, you should have 30 'save' files, and some other misc meta data files, along with a cache folder I think you can ignore.
Here is a thread that Mr. Bufferlow posted just prior to the last update about how to make backups and archived saves: https://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/0/3841053598847851657/
It was easy enough that even a computer dunderhead like me could do it.
That's how most games work, yeah. I don't understand why NMS doesn't. I'm sure there's some sort of reason, but If there is, I don't know what it is. Making the batch file fixes it for me, though, and was easy enough. It just takes up a little more storage space, is all, but I feel better knowing that I have about five archived backups, so if something blows up in a save I really like, I don't have to mourn its loss.
(not those exact words, but you know what I mean)
It's one reason why I wish there was an in-system setup for it, because working with 7 layers of folders and working with generically named files just doesn't feel right; especially as a dyslexic.
