Does anyone play Survival mode?
I found Normal mode to be far to easy last time I played. There was zero need to upgrade anything really. This was two years ago. Has this changed? Does anyone play survival anymore? If so is there a community hub for survival?

Yea, it's my most-played mode. ~300 hours now on that save I think? Dunno about a specialized discussion forum though.

YES - I play what I call extreme survival with all settings set to max (well except for the Harsh inventory <- that's just dumb).
YES - Normal mode is too easy
HUB? No, we're a bunch of loners sitting in our basement waiting for Starfield to come out /s

Survival mode is no longer separate from normal mode for the multiplayer aspect, they are all grouped together. Only Permadeath players and expedition players are separated now.

And yes, plenty of us play Survival+ still. I say "+" because there are actually several difficulty settings that are not turned all the way up when you select "survival" as your difficulty option, so the + signifies turning those up as well (except the harsh inventory, as @Geldric said. :)

Wait, so you actually DO play with the inventory limits set to the maximum? Not talking about the setting that is default for Survival mode. There's one notch even higher. I tried that once, it's ridiculous how small the stack limit is (imo). I wouldn't mind it for just storage, but for refining..ick.
Guyver8 Jun 27, 2023 @ 4:15am
@JE: yes ...can't explain it ...but i luv the grind
as for the refining: a long time ago you mentioned the exml i needed to look at, i found the bug HG left in after removing 'general' (but not it's max refiner limit) so my refiner limits are cargo max (as should be)
disclosure: i do have some product stack adjustments for stuff like the interceptor loot i.e. shards, mirrors etc cos those vanilla stack sizes ARE crazy

Ahh, yes. I can see that not being so bad then. Having the amount of a stack in terms of inventory does make the game a lot better (imo) as it stretches out how long the survival aspect of the game is at all functional. Smart to change JUST the refiner limit to make the harsh setting bearable.

Only permadeath. deleted all but my firstave.
Now it's even more relaxing as I don't give a damn about so many things anymore.
No more "oh no, wrong color. gotta farm for another week...".
With each run I need less and less things.

RE: Harsh Inventory setting (Geldric on spare account)
What bothers me the most is NOT the 300 stack limit, it's that HG just threw their own ruleset right out the window.

I would play that setting more if:
* Exosuit max was 150
--OR--
* Ship max was 600

For whatever un-hirkly reason I can't stand it being the same

Um nothing...
I'm just glad to not have to ocd and fill out all the 9,999 stacks evenly in the vaults and so on. Dunno. what you said reminded me of that.
I'm not even joking. Srsly glad to be rid of that.
Geldric™ Jun 27, 2023 @ 5:23am
It's easier in (non-harsh) Survival, max stacks are a nice even 500/1000/2000
:steamhappy:

PS Nine's are icky!
