Based on my experience, I would wonder if somehow the area where that info gets stored was written over somehow on your rig. It is not stored with the save files and not uncommon that gamers update Windows from 10 to 11 and experience this problem. Also, just re-installing Windows can have the same effect. For example, changing out the harddrive to an SSD for performance increase.
You are correct that you can recover your lost cross save rewards (and more if you want) using the Save Game Editor. Not sure if it has been updated for the E10 cross save rewards...but they are kind of meh.
The only thing I noted that is different is now you have to pay nanites if you want the Speeder ship. The golden vector is still free.
The thing is, absolutely nothing has changed on my rig, nothing, still running the same old SSD, the same old hardware and everything else, even still running the same old Windows 10 (haven't upgraded to 11 yet). Everything was claimable on the previous expedition, but since this one released, it's all gone for whatever reason. I did Tweet at Hello Games but i doubt that's gonna do anything.
So far it seems the only way to permanently restore my rewards to my account is to finish all the expeditions offline again, which i doubt i'll be doing since the rewards can just poof out of existence in the future.
Including installing it, it will probably take you 20 minutes or less versus playing all the older expeditions in offline mode which could take several days and you will need to mess with your settings for dates.
I guess to back up a step, I would first verify my game files, just in case something is corrupted- obviously remove mods as well. Those would be the likely culprits or maybe I truly live a charmed life. HG loves me, they really love me.
So it is surprising that you lost your old expedition rewards :(
I'd do the save editor thing, but that only unlocks it for the current save, redoing offline would account-unlock it.
Ahhhh, i remember when the expeditions originally started it only used to do all saves. Didn't know it works this way now. Thanks.
'zip' the entire folder then name and store the .zip/7z file on another drive (less than 2mins work)
My post and testing stand as I just tried it again yesterday and I got my correct file back. From my perspective you actually have to work at messing the files up, but that's just me.
