@wkitty42: Puzzle/maze/one way passage is the only reasons I can think of for locking a door.
Not really sure about aggressive critters- I have never really had a critter get in my base. I have seen posts where it apparently can happen.

valid question but the assumption is incorrect. its not that i dont want others to visit its simply an aesthetic. I'm building a section of my base that serves no purpose, just for fun, and i had the idea of locking a small room with a bunch of servers in it. But it just so happens that with the shape of the room, the ideal door size is the half-walled door (and the compression-sealed doors only fit right in the middle of the full sized walls).
it's not a big deal obviously because im doing it just for fun, but still, would be cool. i guess ill have to change the shape of the room.
