why? i don't understand why some want to lock things so others cannot visit...

Not that I am aware of. That can only be done with powered doors AFAIK.

@wkitty42: Puzzle/maze/one way passage is the only reasons I can think of for locking a door.

No, not directly as there are no electric connection points on those parts. You can only lock (power on) pre-fab door parts using electrics and switches. But you can snap those doors parts onto basic wall or door parts I think. That can look a bit ugly but with care you can make elaborate grand entrances in combination with free placing building parts. Free placing parts gives you flexibility to be creative with entrance openings. That way you can disguise the moving door part. You might even use a garage door or set of garage doors to create patterns : ) Whatever your imagination comes up with. You can also create elaborate locks too, if you want to look up tutorials, how to build doors that arrange switches, to create locks requesting button switches be pressed in a certain order, like a pin number pass code.

Probably already know this....BUT no one can steal your stuff so there is no need to lock the doors. The critters and sentinels can spawn right through the walls so locking the door won't stop them. Sentinels can't hurt you indoors.

Not really sure about aggressive critters- I have never really had a critter get in my base. I have seen posts where it apparently can happen.

valid question but the assumption is incorrect. its not that i dont want others to visit its simply an aesthetic. I'm building a section of my base that serves no purpose, just for fun, and i had the idea of locking a small room with a bunch of servers in it. But it just so happens that with the shape of the room, the ideal door size is the half-walled door (and the compression-sealed doors only fit right in the middle of the full sized walls).

it's not a big deal obviously because im doing it just for fun, but still, would be cool. i guess ill have to change the shape of the room.

thank you all for your suggestions!

You could put in a suggestion/request on HG's Zendesk for a powered half wall door. I may do that myself, as I could see that as being useful.
