Is it possible to do Starbirth again?
I mean could I technically buy another void egg and repeat the quest, because on my last try my living ship was turned into a regular shuttle?

Or no living ship for my collection ever? I mean I could live without it, but maybe one day I feel like trying again and hoping it doesn't bug lol

You can do it as many times as you want if you buy a void egg!
One piece of advice. If you are approaching the point where a living ship is crashing and you see a normal ship, move away until you can't see it. (Rise out of the atmosphere, etc.).
If you get close again, it should turn into a living ship.
May you find a cool babe!

Turn off MP would be my advice. That whole ship switching thing seems to be related to MP on. I have never seen that happen in my game (4000+ hours), but I leave MP off all the time. (expect those brief moments in the Anomaly where I turn it on for a sec. and go...oh yeah, this is why I have it turned off.)

you won't be able to do the starbirth quest more than once per save, additional eggs will get you to living ships thru a truncated super-mini 'quest' but not the original 'days long' quest

This is actiually great doing a mini quesrt instead of the boring long one taking days, at least I'll have the option to get another if I choose too, thanks

Cool as long as I can still obtain it I can take the loss and forgive the bug as I love the game, no need to rush now but when I want to I can.

Not this one... This bug happens simply due to something loading wrong or just not loading at all... The crashed ship loads as normal instead of changing into a living ship as the quest demands.

I've experienced it myself before without multiplayer on, multiple times.
I've even tested it and if you fly fast enough into the atmosphere you can even force it to happen. So apparently it takes a while for that living ship script to get loaded and if you load into the crash site before that time you'll just get a regular ship.
(Edit: Just to note, the fact the living ship stuff is delayed is... strange. I've got the game on an M2 drive and there is nothing slow about this PC, so the fact I can force ANYTHING to load slowly on here is just a true oddity... The scripts themselves must be intentionally delayed. Perhaps to give time for the crash site itself to load properly?)
