Is Deep Space mod working?
I can't see it is. Tried to put it into MODS folder (disablemods.txt is deleted) and in PCBANKS (like readme says). But chromatic abberation is still on and space is colorful as a childs coloring book. Anybody plays with it? How did you install it?
Nexus page has no comment section so I post it here. Thx!

UPD
K, I got this, the mod is more or less dead. Can you advise some good AND fully working mods wich disables that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chromatic abberation (devs, ffs, WHY didn't you add this option in menu???), the worst visual effect ever made? And something to make space looking more real? I really tired of all this colors, it feels like I'm watching Teletubies... Colorful nebulas should be a very rare objects, this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up when EVERYTHING in game's universe is colorful nebula.

that mod was last updated in Aug 2016, i'm gonna say it's more than outdated, it's most likely broken, there isn't an lua file to even try to repak it yourself (even if there was, most likely it wouldn't work).
you will have to try find mod(s) that are current that cover all (or most) of the things that mod did

DEEP SPACE MOD, I am using it.
It works, but the effect is quite different from when the mod was first released.
It has become quite noisy.
This is my guess, but I think it may be due to a change in the build data file specifications.
For example, the previous universe had three image data files (stars, gas, and nebulae), each of which was combined as a layer, and the mod removed the gas and nebulae.
However, the specifications changed and the "image" or composition of the layers was changed or added and no longer consistent.
Recently, you can clearly see that the image has been changed to one with varying sizes of stars.
It could be better in the future, although it is a long shot.
I can't say for sure, as this is all up to the author.

No, they "Can" have a comment section. It's up to each individual mod author to determine what is turned on for their mod. There are actually a few different options, including having no comments or discussion sections at all.

The mod in question has them all disabled.

Nope. Deep Space mod page has only this sections:
DESCRIPTION
FILES
IMAGES
VIDEOS
LOGS

Usually there are also "posts" and "bugs" sections, but not at DSM page.

No, it's not strange at all. There are plenty of mods that have no comment or discussion sections. I already told you, it's because the author of the mod decides what sections the mod has available. Almost no mod has 'all' of the options enabled.

For comments, the authors have multiple choices, including the default "comments" section that most mods have, but you can also turn on a threaded discussion if you wanted to, and you can disable any and all comments and discussions if you want.

The setting is on a "per mod" basis, and under the control of the person who created the mod. Mod authors who do not wish to see user feedback of any kind disable the comments and discussions.

yeah ain't got no time for those mods
why put a mod on nexusmods if not to share it
then to not take any feedback?
if they can't be bothered, then neither can i :steammocking::steamhappy:

I disagree. Some mod authors are only putting the mod up because they made it for themselves and figured "hell, why not share it", but have zero interest in actually listening to what anyone else has to say about the mod.

I think that's a fair position to take as a mod author, because users in general only comment for one of three things:
  1. They are morons, and didn't install it correctly, and they come to ♥♥♥♥♥ at the author as if their own stupidity is the fault of the mod author.
  2. They want something changed or added to the mod, and because the whole world is about them, the mod author is expected to do so.
  3. The mod stopped working because of a game update, and heaven forbid they have the patience to wait longer than 1 minute after updating their game before they expect the mod to also be updated.

Personally, I like to leave comments on in case there is a real problem that I didn't find in my own testing, but the simple fact is that 9 out of 10 comments are for one of the above 3 reasons, across all of my mods. I just delete the comments (usually without even replying) in those instances.

Why do people keep trying to compare our universe with NMS universe? They are nothing alike, thank goodness, because in comparison our universe is boring.

@JE: that's harsh, but true-ish
those are the cons
the pros
i like to thank an author if i find the mod particularly good for me :steamhappy:

for authors who aren't glued to the game, sometimes the comments are the first notice that their mod no longer works and needs to either be repaked or might need to be 're-coded'

it's also nice to be able to suggest things to the author ...no obligation or expectation (well from me anyways)

and yes i've seen some nasty comments, but then that's life ...there's always some

but the most important thing is people expect from mod author to do the things they won't bother or do not want to learn for themselves.

I don't do mods but I assume there should be a forum for that mod somewhere and that could be a good place to ask. I think this forum is for talking about the release version of No Man's Sky.

I think maybe you want the black edition of this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1200?tab=files

I like more color in my space, personally, especially since it isn't a real universe at all, so I don't use that version of the mod myself, but Exo's mods are being actively maintained, so they are still working, and you can see if it is what you want.
