70-80 fps on my new 4090, dropped from my old 3080ti.
So i just upgraded from a 3080ti and my FPS in game dropped dramatically and i have no clue how to get more FPS out of the game.

The 4090 runs great in other games RRD2, Cyberpunk, Darktide, etc etc, it blows all my games out of the water in tems of performanse but not NMS.

I tried different solutions after googling the issue but nothing works. Anyone else with a 4090 that has the same low FPS?

LOL, ahh, I can't tell if you are seriously complaining about 70 to 80 fps in NMS or just flexing like @Gunther said.

That said, if you use DLAA you might want to check out and try what this thread talks about. For me it made a pretty significant difference on performance for the game.
I only have a 2060 though, so every little bit helps.

Check/update your drivers. MS did ship drivers with debug enabled at one point.

Time sure flies.

The only game that has sent me packing so far is Star Citizen, and there is some irony to that. Back in 2012 when I learned of Star Citizen I vowed (to myself) not to replace my then 4 year old computer until it came out. Well we all now how that turned out. I bought this computer December of 2017, as my 9 year old comp was having a rough time.

Ironic then that even though I waited 5 years after Star Citizen's development was announced, my rig still can't run it.

I hate Chris Roberts.

Chris Roberts is a criminal who has stolen more than 500 million $ (status 2022) from the people. He will never ever publish a finished game, just living like a lord with help of this stolen money. Just my personal opinion (and a bit off the original topic).

I fired up Star Citizen couple of weeks ago and I was getting 30fps on an RTX 3080 and crazy stutter at 1440p in an empty room, crashed twice before making it into the elevator at the end of the hallway, LOL. People on their forums say 30-40fps is normal for SC. Great work. Puts Duke Nukem Forever to shame :)

I paid 40 bucks for the basic package about 3 years ago. I couldn't get out of my spawn point without crashing. Best I could do was get to the door. Same thing happens today. I posted on the forums and listed my specs and they straight up said I didn't have enough ram (16 gigs system, 11 gigs video).
What's bad is that the game doesn't even look so hot. I made it eventually to the top of the building, looked around, it was rather ugly.

So glad I didnt jump on either bandwagon (NV 4xxx or starcitizen)

by the way, there are known win11gaming issues, if youre on w11 might need MS hotfixes or updates.

Yes, but honestly, I don't know how he pulled out that marketing trick because it's quite the achievement, props to him. I met quite a few dudes who were talking about that pseudo-game like some crazy cultists. If someday I need to start a business, I'll pay him, not for his game but for some marketing consultancy because in that matter, the guy is a master.

I boot up Star Citizen about once a year, this year with my new 3080. A lot of the time I can't get off the ground. This time my ship was bouncing around in the hanger. I gather I was somehow supposed to open or request the door to open.

After it de spawned me I turned it off and will check again next year.

LOL, you are more patient and understanding than me. I was one of the original backers for the game. I put money down on Kickstarter the first day he launched the kickstarter campaign (before it turned into the ridiculous, obvious money-grab that it is now).

When they first offered an alpha to test, I checked it out about every 6 months or so but I have LONG since given up on it. I've never even had it installed on my current PC, which I got several years ago.

I'm hoping that I'm wrong about it being the gaming industry's biggest snake oil campaign and that, some day, my grand children might actually get to play it.

I forced myself to ignore star citizen after all the controversy but then in late '21 I decided I would go ahead and check it out.

Once you figure out all the bugs, it's actually pretty fun. I've since spent maybe 1,000 hours in the game. The most recent update, just a few days ago, is supposed to really help with FPS/performance issues. I haven't even downloaded it though. I got pretty burned out already and until the 2nd star system is added (supposedly about a year from now) I probably won't play it much.

That 3080 ti was long in tooth. About time you replace that antique. If you bought it when it came out (June of 2022) it was pushing 10 months in age already.

This seems more like a flex than a real problem.

I'll just go back to my 1080ti and 44 frames per second now.

I never understood flexing gear for strangers on random forums. The 4090 is out there some people are going to own it, if you cant handle envy that is not my problem.

The fact is people are getting twice the fps on youtube videos with the same card and i was wondering if i was missing something important.

It's just kinda funny because you 'upgraded' from a card that will likely handle games with ease until the year 2030. the 3080ti is a BEAST.

perhaps your CPU has them both bottlenecked? or some other system component.

That sucks, but I do thank you for being an early adopter.
There are new drivers up today, maybe try them.
Karumati Mar 14, 2023 @ 10:04am
had 120fps locked on max settings in 1440p with 3090, but i'm still in beginning trying to understand how to play it

That might be the case, i have already ordered a 7950x3d system and im waiting on the ram to arrive.

The reason i ordered a new rig is simply cos of fomo. There was corona, made buying components a hell for some time, there is a war that sets the economy in motion, the U.S banking system is starting to fail all over again and i have the money to spend atm.

In 1-3 years when i want to have a faster rig, it might not be that easy to upgrade to and my economy might be a bit more strained. The 3080 Ti is a great card w/o a doubt for 1440p and w/o ray tracing.

The 4090 is a great card for 4k and ray tracing, with the 4090 i can max all out and hit that sweet constant 144/120 fps adaptive sync that i have on my 1440p gaming monitor and my 55" 4k 120 adaptive sync Samsung TV.

I also noticed that when i swapped GPU the mobo reset my Ram XMP profiles and ran slower then usual so i upped that again and now have a higher FPS in NMS.
