Question: is it waste to put shields in a supercharged slot?

For science:

I have in my Exotic 4 connected supercharged slots.

My infra-knife (with 3 S class upgrades) are all in these 4 slots (the Q-resonator is connected but not in a super slot).

DAMAGE In superslots: 82,605 In regular slots: 25,597 (Obviously a HUGE improvement)

MY SHIELDS, on the other hand:

400.3 in regular slots 424.7 in super slots. Doesn't seem like a proportionate improvement.

is the 24.4 increase in Shield strength even going to be noticable?

Depends on how often you get into a firefight, how much recharge material you regularly carry, and if your like me, fly through trees until the shields almost give out.
If you didnt have the sheilds in the supercharge slot could you somehow rearrage the other tech to have two supercharged slots? If not then why bother.

My honest opinion is, yes, it's a waste. Compared to most other technologies, you get far less benefit from it.
Some tech has multiplicative effects for adjacency and multiple supercharge slots, others have additive. Additive ones are always an inferior choice for use of the slots and I'm fairly certain that shields are just additive based on what the in game UI shows.

On combat starships, I aim for 300 shields and forget about it. Anything over 300 is overkill. So in your situation supercharge your weps. Kill them in 1 sec instead of 3 secs and they have less time to reduce your shields.

To clarify, the 4 slots bring my damage up from 26k to 83k but only brings my shields up from 400 to 425. The dps was more than tripled, yet shields were increased by about 6%.

Consider this, notice that the damage numbers are 5 digit, but the shield is only 3? I would guess that they do not directly correlate to each other. That 'little' 24.4 increase is probably a significant boost

Good job. Now you don't have to waste any precious superslots on shields

My question really is why with 4 slots am I only getting a 6% impovement on shields but on my Infra-Knife the increase is over 300%?

I think if I could get 1200 shield strength I might opt for shields.

I already answered that question. It's the difference between the supercharge slot being applied additively vs. multiplicatively.

Don't know if you willing to follow tips from me - but I would suggest to use 3 superslots for for your infra.knife and one for the shields. And try to find X-class-upgrades for them as there are also some that put more then the S-class on top.

That should give you a good balance.

And if you find a pirate station with X-class shieldupdates then buy 10 or 15 items as there are also chanches that there value is low.

And don't pay attention to my englsih spelling anymore. thanks.
