My Base Got Trashed :(
I was on my base... and everything was fine, and normal. I went down into the tunnels to make my way to the UnderWater Portion... used the Nautilous to do a few things underwater, then made my way to land; summoned my ship... flew further inland, and spent the next few hours searching for Tech. Got attacked by Pirates (if that makes a difference); then continued searching tech. After several hours I flew back to my home base.

The first thing I noticed was the Ramp leading from the Landing Pad to the Base was gone, as was the Door to enter the base. Next I noticed the Pedestals under the Landing Pad were also gone. (Note: My base is about 2-1/2 Stories high at the lowest level; other than Pedestals underneath.)

At this point I assumed that my base came under attack while I was gone. But as I continued into my base I noticed every Door is now missing. Further in... a few walls were missing. At this point I'm figuring it was a Glitch. In hopes of not saving anything that might Undo itself, I immediately left my base, and landed on my Freighter; doubt that will make a difference, but I'm hoping.

I can only assume either: A) Someone landed on my planet, and trashed my base (gosh, I hope not)... or B) it was just a Glitch that rarely happens.

It will only take me about 10 minutes to fix most of the damage (a little longer for the Auto Door stuff); but I'd hate to have to make a habit of this.

Any Ideas... what actually happened? Is this a known issue? Or could someone (a Player) have entered and did this? (Note: I'm 'Technically' Playing Single Player; but my understanding is, it is possible for other players to enter your game.

I'd just dislike for this to become a 'Thing' :(.

Advanced Thanx to any Light Shed on this :).

Yes, other player *can* enter your base - but they can't change it. Even the use of refinders has changed and is now under your control.

For me it sounds like a corrupted savefile ... Did you save & restart the game durung your work on the planet ? Or did you do that in one way ?

And did a restart of your system & NMS & reload of your saved game changed anything ?

Check your permissions under Network settings. The default is that anyone can modify your base and delete parts.

Thank you for this thread!
I always forget to change multiplayer settings when I start a new game and I started the expedition a few hours ago. This reminder has served to prompt me to go change those settings!
Fortunately no one screwed with me. <phew>

Edit to mention: Most of those settings are on a PER save game basis, so you have to remember to change them any time you start a new save (including expeditions). If that wasn't obvious from what I already said about NOT remembering. :)

*Woot* *Woot* We're going to just caught this a Fluke with a Happy Ending :).

I flew back down to my base, and everything that was missing... is now back... Doors, Walls, Ramps, Etc.

My Options did allow wayyy too many people... wayyy too much control; so I changed all that; Much Thanx for That Krash; Good Looking Out Mate :).

@JB for future reference: I'm unsure of what you mean. It took many Gaming Sessions to build my base... so I saved and reloaded a number of times. I'm not sure how to restart my system (or what that means); but I did exit the system Once (maybe twice) during the building process. Is there something in which I want to be careful not to do?

Is your base fairly complex? I saw issues with parts "disappearing" briefly in larger bases. Sometimes it's enough to leave and come back and all is fine again.

Yes, lately the game seems to still have a few base-building bugs. Parts will occasionally just disappear, especially on the freighter. It happened to me a few times as well.
They will usually return if you leave the whole area and come back again (or restart the game), as you noticed.

With "restart your system" I mean your PC // Console // What ever. I have had the prob of missing parts only ones at the time I played NMS the first few days - and as I restartet // rebootet my PC and NMS all parts got back again.

I can't really say if it's 'Complex' or not... but the base is on Stilts 2-1/2 levels up, and I do like Corridors and separated rooms; and well placed Wiring (That hides itself without Invisible Wiring); not to mention a tunneling system that travels about 500u away, underwater to my UnderWater base at the bottom of an ocean (The Brits would be Proud (The Tube)) :). Okay, now that I've said it out loud, it's probably complexed... a bit :).

I don't think it's the same issue as the link (but could be), but JB is probably right... it was the Game Reload that probably fixed it. Hopefully it won't happen again... but if it does that will be my Go To Move... and I'll Report it back here; for future reference :).

Thanx Again Mates :)

Tangentally related:

I was helping a friend build an "anchor base" in Hilbert Dimension last night and he was having an issue with vanishing parts. He'd found a power hotspot ~870u away ~40 degree down angle from his base computer in an especially vertical mountain range. He was able to bridge out to a flat spot at that angle just fine and place his generators, but every time he placed a battery or other small, permanent tech (he even tested solar panels) and walked out of render/cell load distance, the object permanently vanished along with their attached wires; we even examined his save as JSON and there were no records of the objects. He had to resort to using cuboid rooms as trackable anchors as they wouldn't disappear.

I'm wondering if the old small part culling issue from a few years back has returned, but only at certain vertical distances from point zero; none of my bases seem affected but I rarely build more than 100u vertically in relation to point zero.

Interesting; and now that I think about it... all the pieces that disappeared where from the Alloy Building Section; nothing from the Pre-Fab stuff; that and Doors (both the Alloy Doors and the Powered Doors). But also, I believe (as an after thought) that the Half-Walls I built around the Landing Pad (used like a fence to keep from fall off the edge) also disappeared.

But then again... All My Stuff returned, I believe after a ReBoot. It sounds like Your Friend's Stuff did not :(.

It did not, sadly, though he didn't lose much worth compared to our material stocks. We thought it was originally just visual culling, but we were having other issues as well. I'm glad you got yours back, at least.
