Will we ever be able to see eachother's capes?
What's the point of having cool capes if we can't FLAUNT em??

i don't know if we will ever see the capes or not... can we see the new helmets? i think we can so the capes may just have a bug... perhaps if we (TINW) hit the zendesk with issues about not seeing the capes, they'll get it fixed? especially since we can see the helmets...

i would list it as an annoyance in the option on the form where it is a specific choice... get enough issues about it and it should bubble to the top of the TODO list...

Probably not. i'm reminded of a game called subnautica, granted it doesn't use the same engine and granted there are no capes in that game, but i was reading a while back in a reply about some of the mechanics needed to bring multiplayer or coop to it, including syncing all the animations, coding, movements and what not and how complicated it is to get all that sorted out so all the users see exactly the same thing.

i suspect the cape itself is a problem all by itself on this game because of the above and isn't something that can be easily sorted out for multiplayer.

Since the cape is by itself not important in any way i suspect strongly it's not a priority for HG to consider sorting out on their laundry list of concerns and any new content on the way.

FWIW: the cape has on three real movements/appearances... hanging down, flapping out behind, or up when the avatar is dropping from a higher elevation... they don't really need to be synced to the actual player of the avatar system... they only need to be simulated on the observer's system and that should be easy enough to do based on how the observed avatar is moving... those movement details must be known in the game code somewhere else we would not be seeing the avatars moving, flying, and jumping as they do...

I don't think the cape movement is pre-animated; it's probably physics-based, and they didn't think they could support a bunch of them simultaneously.

your cape in your game may be physics based... idk since we don't have the code to look at unless under a debugger but that's a bit too much for this small item... anyway, they could use simple animated capes on the other avatars you see... i doubt it would cause too much hardship if done properly... maybe low-end machines might have a problem but an option to see the capes or not is fairly easily to add...

Each cape or cloak, is physics (or procedural) based so can be affected by the procedural environment of the game, particular planet weather and so on. That would have to be plotted and mimicked on each players computer which probably is not feasible for the majority of users PC or console CPUs at this time. So maybe multiple animated cloaks will be a thing in the future when the computer tech of most players can cope with all the extra calculations.

There probably is an ugly compromise to get around the current problem but it may be additional work for the developer that is not important right now.

Exactly how is it possible to FLAUNT em? When it is something that tens of thousands of other players also have.

Personally I think they're stupid why would a astronaut be wearing a cape? Makes you look like a cartoon character.

I agree about physics-based, my spaceman has jumped down, and the cape flopped over his head in front of his chest.

now imagine if the game on another persons computer didn't record the cape correctly and it instead clipped right through the player character and it started waggling about like a dogs tail. it would be very distracting to look at, possibly annoying after a while until you tell the other player to jump into their ship to reset the cloak.

I wish I could hide my own cape to have that small streamlined jetpack visible. Also I hardly ever use capes because they don't behave properly, they often bounce off the shoulders when walking or running like it isn't attached.

It's to bad about the capes but then why not give us awards in the form of say new helmets or new space suits as rewards, just something to let us stand out in the anomaly as having completed various community expeditions ....just a thought

It would be hilarious if instead of the dreaded Vader helmet (my fav, btw), everyone in the anomaly sees me wearing a clown mask. hahaha Muahaha
