just curious what happens when you die?
ive had alot of encounters with sentinals chasing me through space, ill kill them after every wave and when my shield was all the way down and the number of lives i think it is got too close to comfort i ALT+F4 and last time i was trying to get into a base which seemed like i had to kill them to get into i got to wave 5 and used my little buggy car to get there, i used it to get me some healing over time before i got back out to fight but it was too much so i drove back to my aircraft and left. so i dont know what happens when i die in this game

Depends on your difficulty settings. but on normal you respawn back near your ship and all of your inventory is at a marked gravestone where you fell. Also, some of oyur equipment may be damaged.
what about if you die in space? lol

More tricky. I've respawned back on the last space station before now, and you just have to fly to the grave to get stuff back. Expeditions may vary this.
oh wow i thought start loop over meant having to start all over, glad thats not the case but i still will decide not to die after i learned some curves to avoiding it, in space right after kiling the reinforcements have to be quick to pin point space station and use the drive to fast speed there for before the next wave counts down, and on planet hide in vehicle lol

I heard about it somewhere and never died once due to my own stupidity.
Not once, I tell ya.

Maybe thrice.

The sentinel space ships are a pain. It used to be possible to outrun them, but I don't seem to be able to since a couple of major updates ago. Dying is more of an inconvenience in this game (not including permadeath) and everything is replaceable without cheating aside from a few expedition rewards.
after killing a wave you have a chance to use your boost drive, be quick and use it on space station because they cannot spawn until youre already there and they wont be there when you exit the space station or use ALT F4 and when you come back in the chases will be gone and youll be where you was

I'm doing a Perma-Death game at the moment, if you die in this, the game deletes and you get to start all over again. I'm making a run for the center and so far so good. Pirates can be a real pain in the A@@, I've had 8-10 of them try to shorten my life , but I usually don't engage them. I've been using Black Holes as well.

lol you can back up your save game and restore it when you die to bugs etc on PC anyway.

Thus far tried only once on the switch and died to something stupid (i forget what it was) and lost the save there. I earned the achievement on Steam and GoG honestly but long before the difficulty increase a short while ago. If there were achievements like on steam on the switch I would try it again but until then I will keep playing my normal save.

My personal favourite is suicide by plasma launcher

That one at least makes sense, get too close to a grenade and all. My spaceman died on Utopia by zapping a sentinel riding the grill of a Nomad -- surprise cannon fodder!

Well you don't really die in this game so nobody knows.

well, I have done that. Your grave is in space - actually happened to me playing the new expedition as I tried to get away from sentinels in the POS ship they gave me. LOL. I am not adept at shooting and never have played any game that requires it.

I actually got killed when I decided to do a mission to take down a pirate. those ships were never ending!

I spawned back on a planet with my ship busted up and some stuff lost and had to fix it. It wasn't so bad, but annoying. I hate getting killed, but that just teaches me to be more careful next time.

sounds like you need to up your engine mods... when i started Exp9, i could not outrun the Sentinel ships in the Hauler they gave me... as i progressed, i added stronger engine modules which did eventually enable outrunning them... then i got the Utopia Speeder and had a similar problem until i upped the engine modules i had for it...

tl/dr: the key to outrunning the sentinel ships is to build up your engines efficiency and boost capabilities... efficiency so you don't consume the fuel so fast and boost increase so you can go faster while holding the boost button...

FWIW: don't confuse boost with pulse... boost makes you go fast in normal space... pulse uses the pulse engines which makes streak lines which are similar to but not the same as seen when warping...
