S-Class Capital Freighters Still Possible to Acquire Free?
I've given up hunting for tonight.

I've got it down to less than 2 minutes per attempt between leaving the space station and assessing the Freighter type before reload. I'm pushing past 200 something attempts, and though I've found about 7x Class A34:20s, I've never seen an S class and now I'm wondering if after a recent update, you cannot get the S class capital ship for free anymore, and the above A class type is the best possible?

yes, about thirty or so attempts

1. make sure the system you're in isn't a 1 star system.

2. why not just use the save editor? Constantly reloading a savegame is the same level of 'cheating' as changing a letter in a file... (hint: neither are cheating)

I got mine last night after 1 1/2 hours of reloads.

If your ships class is changing, you will eventually see an S class

I'd strongly recommend to grind them in outlaw systems. They have 5% spawn rate for S class, compared to 2% in rich systems. Believe or not - that's a real deal. Once, I had 3 S class freighters spawned in a row.

But keep in mind, if you already claimed free freeighter before - no more free ones for you.

this is also question which i'd like to get asnwer, if it's above, fine...

S class freighters will never spawn in 1 star economies... Always keep this in mind.

2 star economy has a 1% chance to spawn S class anything.

I found my last S class in an outlaw system thanks to the 5% chance. It comes with less starting inventory slots, but that's okay.

WAT.

I've been grinding in a 3 star economy because I thought it had the highest chances there. Likely gonna switch to an Outlaw economy soon then, just gotta go through the hoops of finding a color/style I like now again...

Is this a drawback to the 5% in an outlaw economy?

Actually thought all s class ships/freighters etc had slightly less cargo space on account that theyre beefed up in other ways. Maybe someone could clarify

S class in a non outlaw system start with 34-36 open slots.

I kept finding A:34+20s in my 3 star system.

The S Class Freighter I'm staring at right now is a S:31+18 (31 Inventory, 18 tech slots)
the one encountered just before this was a S:32+18

I ended up just modding the chances of finding S Class ships because it seems learning to mod the game is faster than hitting that 2% chance at the rate I'm going.

I used this guy for directions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=XBr6Fgr8Zio
This LUA (Mod script): https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/2030?tab=posts
And AMUMSS to compile it: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/957

If you just want the Pak file I made from the above, here it is: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1tA_XLcxKd8ulRXYwcQnwt_ZniyEcui9Q

Of course, always do your due diligence when downloading and running files of any type.

Also, going to add here in case helpful to future travelers;
You can purchase color customization unlocks for 5000 nanites per color if you find a design you like, but not a color you like. That is, color can be changed later... for a price, but still changeable.

Man, I wouldn't like to ruin your day, but I'm afraid I have to - colors for freighters are kinda broken. For example, you can't recolor your bridge. Probably you won't consider it as an issue before you actually see this. It may also not be a problem if it's color is neutral or similar to what you want to get.

In my case, my old freighter had kinda ungly combination of colors. Thus, when when I repainted it, that stupid bridge looked like some clown head with green hair and red nose. So, I had to find another one.

And this is not all. Some colors simply can't be recolored. Yep. Or some parts of certain colors. Been there. 50k nanites well spent.

I use a mod that forces one set of system freighters to always spawn the capital freighter for that system, even when not during a freighter battle. So the first freighter I see in every system is that systems' capital freighter. No longer have to worry about; 'what if this system has the best freighter ever?'...
