NM: [latest Nvidia drivers fixed the issue] wow fractal is kind of a mess

Now Im not one to bash the game because I love it but I can't even run the game. Just started happening, been playing since 2016...maybe because im on experimental?

@BigRowdy, you lost all credibility with the Bill Gates comment. He doesn't even have a role at Microsoft any longer, and hasn't since like 2008. So believing that Windows is worried about whether you type is name or not is way beyond tin-foil-hat.

latest Nvidia driver didn't fix the issue for me (GeForce GTX 1650 GRD V. 528.49)...
Older Nvidia driver didn't fix the issue (GeForce GTX 1650 GRD V. 528.24)...
Reinstalling graphics drivers didn't help...
Software verified...
Everything restarted many times...
Will I ever get to play NMS again? =(

I've been reading many, many posts calling Windows 'spyware'. As for my thoughts, I think the mandatory updates went over the line. They are a practical menace. Have to jump through hoops just so that they don't mess with AMD IGPU drivers. That and the downtime is beyond annoying.

That said,after updating my Nvidia driver (clean install setting 'checked', no 'geforce now') my nvidia control panel no longer launches. IDK if it is the install, the driver, or conflict with windows BS'ery (as I replaced a Nvidia driver windows installed).

Have you tried the experimental build? It has a lot of fixes and if it works for you, you can always safely switch back to the normal-release version of the game once the experimental branch gets pushed to public and the versions are the same.

I think a lot of the crazy windows talk is just...well, crazy. But I do agree with this one sentiment.

That said, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. They don't force all updates on you, just the ones they consider critical. My Source: I have 'optional' updates that are sitting and waiting for me to choose to install from almost a year ago.

I appreciate the advice. I'm a little wary of trying experimental things in general when the stable version is so... unstable (I've run into so many bugs, and dodging a game-breaking one is a real effort)...

The newest versions of everything finally brought my game back from the white screen grave, and I'm enjoying it again. Just part of the norm for modern gaming - you buy a game, even a mostly single player game, something works well, they update it, the same thing breaks horribly... just thankful that the arc usually ends with them fixing it again. :p

NMS's experimental is just the "go here if you want quicker hotfixes" branch. Major updates drop on the main branch the same as they drop on the experimental, thus making the main as unstable as experimental. Then add that delay in them fixing thing up, now the main branch is perhaps more unstable than experimental. A shameful mess of poor planning is one of the things I'd call it.
