How long is Hello Games going to leave Photo Missions in the game if they are glitchy and just plain SUCK. The behavior is still the same today as it was 6 years ago and the only thing worse is now taking a photo crashes the game into NOT RESPONDING.

I think if you have a large resolution the game isn't prepared for the file size or something.

Just annoying that the mission is already designed glitchy enough with no idea what target planet you need a picture from, then to finally have the game crap out when you do take a pic.

Just going to pretend these missions dont exist and ignore Explorer guild.

I avoid those missions because they're simply boring even when they don't glitch out. These missions were a requirement for one of the expeditions. I hated that.

Easiest way I've found is just to edit the save with NMSSaveEditor and use the "Edit Raw JSON" option to change Mission Progress on:
"Mission":"^PHOTO_BIOME",
"Progress":46,
Seems changing "Progress":??, to a 46 completes the mission and you can turn it in.

Be sure to make a backup of your saves!

This seems to happen to me as well -- When taking the photo, the game hangs for about ~15 seconds. It does eventually recover on its' own, but...

I always thought this was because of where it was saving the photos.

There's no fix mentioned for this issue in the newest Experimental update notes.

A workaround is to set the photo milestones to optional.

There is a way to modify your expedition configuration file (season_data_cache.JSON) to set those milestones to optional to allow you to claim each end of phase reward without completing them. You will need to set Steam to offline mode to prevent the game overwriting the configuration file every time it starts up. See this previous expedition bugfix topic for more info.

Just change IsOptional":false, to IsOptional":true, x5.
