Did i just lost my sentinel friend?

Before everything, im fairly new to the game.
I did the mission that gave me the little drone.
So i was on a frost planet searchng for a portal (got it eventually) and i had to leave for some time (yes, i know my bad for not pausing) and when i got back well i died probably multiple times and my inventory was empty exept the living ship components those respawned with me, but i cant find my sentinel buddy.
Did i lost it permamently, I cant find it anywhere?

Laylaps? Not sure if this still works, but check with that guy on Anomaly who fixed it for you, he may give you another one if you tell him you lost it.

I didn't die with a pet outside yet - but can you summon him from the menu, where all the pets are? Did he "return" to this as you died?

Thank you so much, i thought he was just an npc who only needed to complete the mission.

No, not the pet, the the sentinel companion you get from finishing a mission (the one you can turn on/off from your inventory)

Laylaps, the blue reconstructed Sentinel drone, does not work like a pet. It's a different mechanism, you get an inventory item to spawn it.

You're welcome. There is no way you would know this, I found it by accident too. I interacted with that NPC for some other reason.
