Freighter Cargo Bulkheads

Is the only way to get those by doing Nexus missions? Is there another way?

You can get the freighter cargo bulkheads from derelict freighters. When you get to the last room, you can choose between a cargo bulkhead or a freighter tech. You can also choose nanites I think.

When you warp in to a system and get the freighter battle, talk to the captain after the fight. One of the options gives you a bulkhead.

The fastest way to get them if you need many of them is to go to a system that has a very easy and fast derelict freighter.
Then just repeat the derelict over and over doing nothing but running straight to the final terminal to get the bulkhead, teleport out, and use an emergency broadcaster receiver again right after taking off from the derelict to rinse/repeat.

I do the above until I have a 'decent amount' of tech and storage space on my freighter, then finish it off with the bulkhead gained by doing space rescues (seeing as those are going to keep happening no matter what, unless you only hyperjump from your freighter bridge).

They are also rewarded in some crashed freighters on planet surface.

Sometimes they're a mission reward in pirate systems.

i have plenty by saving a freighter from pirates
and
dig all 6 storage boxes from a destroed freighter on land.
and some times spase stations gives missions with such reward

the only thing i dont have... is an S class freighter
