Missing most of my inventory now Thanks!
I know I'm a little late to the party, but that's because I wasn't very happy about the whole inventory change and not being able to use modules like before with the new update so I'm just now giving the game a chance. I hop on the game and everything is broken, yes I expected that and I was going to learn to play the way they "intended" even though they let us play for 6+ years and then all of a sudden practically change the way the whole game works.
I now realized that not only is all my stuff broken but I am missing a ton of :shit:. I am missing like 80% of my resources and items from my inventories. So everything is broken even all my upgrades are reset on my capital ship and I now have to go out and get everything again.
Ps. the movement now sucks!!!
Am I the only one who has lost items?

Well, that sucks.

This kind of thing never happens to me, because I start a new game every title update.

Double check that you didn't place it somewhere else, like in another ship or a storage box.

There was also a bug after Waypoint that made some items 'hidden'. I think a patch fixed all of that, but just in case it is still affecting you:
1. Open a refiner.
2. Click the input to 'add' an item (you will see a FULL list of inventory items) and look for items you don't see inside your UI inventory (aka, items you are 'missing')
3. If you find one, add it into the input slot
4. Immediately move the item to a different location than before (for example: to your ship if it was previously in your exosuit)
5. Repeat until all items are visible again.

I have always had OCD when it comes to my inventory. Everything is always organized in some fashion. Modules with modules, food with food, resources with resources ect. I've only kept shields, resources to make fuel and maybe platinum or gold in my ships inventory. I only used the big storage containers.

How old is your save game? You probably need to start a new game, there were too many changes in the game.

I was playing a week before the big update. Wasn't super old. I just now started up again so I can get the last few achievements. That's when I seen I was missing all that stuff. I can get over the new modular and inventory system, but all my stuff being gone kinda hurts lol
Zak Feb 9, 2023 @ 1:04pm
So not that old indeed. Yeah, that sucks. One option is to use the Save Editor to give yourself your stuff back.
STATIK Feb 9, 2023 @ 1:04pm
A save editor, which has a super simple User Interface, can restore all your 'stuff'. Or you can give yourself anything, actually.

Or do like some of us do with a different brand of 'OCD' and start a new save.

Hell I came back to the game last week and have started 5 new saves, all because 'something wasn't done quite right'.

I may look into that into the future, it's not too big of a deal tbh. Just super annoyed at the moment and wanted to see if anyone else had this happen to them. I just cant get my capital ship to the system that I want because for some reason it took the upgrades off, and now I am missing the stuff to fix it, I cant imagine what I;m missing to make the exo craft I was planning to make lol

The starship and freighter upgrades *might* be in an inactivated state in some other inventory instead of tech, and just need to be reactivated into tech.

So stuff is NOT missing from your main inventories (exosuit, ship, and freighter cargos)?
It's just the storage containers are missing? (< Easily fixable, the contents themselves are still there. You just need new storage containers.)
Or are you saying the storage containers themselves are now completely empty or something like that? Details matter if you want anyone to help.

I had things missing from many different containers it wasn't just one. This iis on my ship and also at my main base. I took even took everything out and resorted everything. I had 8 containers almost full, when I got done sorting everything I had one and a half containers.

One of the biggest features of the Waypoint update was expanding the amount of space you get AND the amounts of items that can occupy a single slot.
So you actually should expect your items to occupy significantly less amount of space than prior to the update.

For example, prior to Waypoint you would spend an entire inventory slot on every upgrade module you wished to keep. Now you can stack any similar modules in the same slot without issue. The maximum storage space for most things, including storage containers, was also increased. Pretty much EVERY single inventory & item in the game was affected.

No offense, but honestly it sounds to me as though you haven't really lost anything if you had filled 8 prior and can still fill one and a half now. That sounds pretty reasonable of a difference, from my own experiences, to me. It probably just 'feels' like you've lost items because of how much less space everything takes up now and then of course being away from the game so long doesn't help matters either. I've also come back to games after a while and thought all my stuff was gone before, too... (It wasn't. My memory just isn't that good.)

I don't know now, but you may be right because now I can't remember lol.
I'll just think of it like that, because if I continue to think the way I was it will just make me mad at the game lol

So stupid question... When you open inventory in your suit an hover over it with the mouse, do you see scroll bars.

The only thing the update did was combine cargo and general inventory and change what be installed in tech or cargo. Some people in the beginning didn't see that the suit inventory could scroll and everything they thought was was just out of sight.

The bug I think was the old cargo area was still available but you could not see it.

But nothing should have been lost.
