Shooting sentinels until level 5 escalation/go to sentinel tower and collecting the glass is kinda fun. glass is usually tech upgrades that can be vendored for 350-450 nanites each.
Or melting S class ships in pirate systems. They fly into the space stations quite often. vendor all the S class tech upgrades.
Two patches of, both with teleporters is even faster.
Short range teleporters just far apart that they'll respawn hopping between even better as those are near instant compared with the base ones. (I personally have never been that lucky).
Exploring for mould is the main part of the job, personally I love exploring. Turning up to collect it takes seconds.
Oh mind you I do use the 10x refiner speed mod because waiting for virtual products to refine is my definition of insane :)
i have more listed on other notepads laying around here somewhere but i cannot lay my hands on them right now... if you look at my profile and then my NMS gallery, you should find some more, though... i have taken pics of some with their glyphs and shared them before...
1 - but still i refine the green-brown-purple slimes into mould then nanites also.
1200 slimes in each derelict are anough if abandoned buildings not working to you.
2 - PLUS take any ''kill pirates'' missions you find, those boxes the drob, they give ship upgrates, sell them for nanites too.
3 - run abandoned buildings via emergency charts, if my A not working on you, then LARVAS refined into nanites.
Also if you don't like a farm you found you can try the portal those farms usually have to find another base on the same planet. As there's usually multiple farms on those planets.
Was flying over a planet yesterday and the curious deposit icon was popping up every 5 seconds. This paradise planet was literally covered with mould sites.
I usually combine those two activities and throw in scrapping ships if I run into A class and above during my journey. Keep your ship inventory low, and just buy up three or four at a time and then park the freighter nearby to scrap them in series. If you already have a corral of liked ships it gets a little more complicated and time consuming. If you stick to one main ship, it is a lot easier.
You can give other items to players in the anomaly but those can only be sold for credits.
The Save Game Editor is the quick and simple method to get nanites if you don't want any grind involved to get what you want. If you are going that route, you might as well cut out the middle process and just upgrade your ship while you are in the save editor.

Find one of the corrupted planet and follow the big flying earthworm to find tentacle nest ,
from each tentacle you get 1 to 2 nasty spawns and a fleshy rope, personal refiner will do the rest, usually from each nest I usually get about 1500 - 1650 nanites and lots of fun :)
Can't you give other players Salvaged Glass, Suspicious Packages or Tech Upgrades that they can sell for Nanites? I'm not sure, I haven't tried myself.
to rely on the refiners ;)(which i have a bad history with regarding reliability)
Farming mold if you set it up properly is somewhat quicker, but very boring since you have
to babysit the refiners or risk loosing all the work you did to fill them up.
Depending on your credit rating buying ships/pirate packages can be a shortcut as well
