Make sure you have "current mission" select on the route list.

first the stars you see in the galaxy map are system not galaxies, a little point but you'll just confuse others when you say galaxy but mean system.

...anyways...make sure you have the 'rebel star' mission active in the log before going into the galaxy map...and once in there that the course is set to 'current' mission, there should be a green line indicating the route to a star with the 'rebel star' mission icon on it.

Yeah, that mission activated early for me but the mission target was never available on the galaxy map because it was actually in the next galaxy, not in Euclid. I had to complete the Atlas and Artemis paths first and travel to the next galaxy. There was a pirate/rebel station in the new galaxy that was the target for this mission. So just ignore it for now and work on other missions.

That sounds like a bug. I've completed this mission on all my saves and it never points to a different galaxy. In fact, no mission will ever start off in a galaxy different from where you are located when it starts. Very strange.

@Krash Megiddo, it updates itself to a new galaxy without you needing to actually tell it to do so, if you go to a new galaxy. I rarely do it when I first get it, until after finishing the Artemis path (and jumping galaxies at the end).
Under a Rebel Star, the Settlement rescue (for your first settlement) and Dreams of the Deep all auto-update to a new galaxy if you sit on them until changing galaxies.

He probably just couldn't find where it was pointing in his previous galaxy. Then, when he jumped galaxies, it updated to the new one and he found that location.

Another day, another NMS bug...

Since you’re in a different galaxy the log should let you delete it. When it restarts it’ll be in a nearby system.

I didn't have to delete it. The mission destination appeared right in the system where I ended up after ending the Atlas mission. I was able to continue it right there.

I've just learned that some secondary missions, including Under A rebel Star, can be reset by pressing the middle mouse button.

Wish I'd never seen this damn mission. Not able to reach that star system until after Atlas spat me out on a Deathworld (volcanoes every half mile, spontaneous flash fires on open ground, superheated flame-wall storms, angry dinos, and over-achieving sentinels (one of them actually tried body-slamming me to provoke a fight before finally calling on his mates when I ignored him: reminded me exactly of my schooldays): the whole menu of sub-Harry Harrison inconvenience), but THAT I could deal with. What I can't deal with is now I've -finally!- reached the pirate station and need to talk to the outlaws, and after doing the first one, as soon as I touch the mouse or brush against the 'w' or 'esc' keys, the game completely freezes on me and then kicks me to desktop. Have tried loading save points and autosaves, but it still happens. Took my graphics way down from 'ultra' to 'standard' and still the same: freeze and then kick. Rebooted my system in case it was a memory bleed or (I'm old and dunno if this is stone-age PC tech stuff these days: SFAIK it might be the same thing by another name) a swap file hogging memory (the approach to the station looked a bit stuttery and while I've not seen it on NMS on *this* PC before, I used to see such stuttering on my old I-know-I've-not-really-got-enough-memory system back at game launch.) but all to no avail: if anything it's getting worse. Can't even get to the mission-log screen to try and reset because touching the 'esc' key -as I mentioned- freezes and kicks me to desktop. I may have to restart from -nononono- scratch with a new iteration. Dungbeetles. Utter dungbeetles man.

Pretty sure what you want to look for is a pirate controlled system, and then go to the space station and talk to the core.

before i go to galaxy map, i click 2-3 times the mision in LOG and then i go to galaxy map and look if its marked the ''current mission'' on left side, and not galacti core or anything else.
IIRC green line shows the correct mission path.

Oh no...there's multiple galaxies...
