Mining Beam, Damage vs. Mining Bonus
Has anyone tested, recently, which multi-tool bonus stat has the greatest impact on overall rate for the Mining Beam? +Damage or +Mining Bonus?

+Damage increases the amount of damage that the mining beam does, but that elusive Mining Bonus, for which the pistol is the best tool, is more difficult to get a handle on without getting out a stop watch.

I haven't tested this in several years, and many things have changed since then, so I'm curious if anyone has tested it more recently.

I'll be testing it myself as soon as I find metal fingers deposit if no one has any info before then.

Wanna twin up a meet up to test. Back on the Spiysky system a few of my bases have deposits, got another base somewhere with a nud hut w/ fingers. I have been swapping my mining beam mod with my visor mod depending on what i'm doing.

Oh, Spyisky you say? I'll head over there after I finish camping for the exotic in the system where I am...no idea how long that will take. Could be a while.

I did land at the station last time I was there, so I can teleport back.

Edit: Spotted the Exotic. Does it look familiar? I can't see any difference between this one and the one that I got there in Spiysky.

You'll want to go the "40 Cluster CD" base... an interloper made a base by the same name close by, so choose carefully.

Regardless of me, you'll prove to yourself that mods in the Super Slots do in fact increase yield.

I plan to test the two different multi-tool bonus types, by using the same mods in a Pistol with the max bonus value for +Mining bonus, vs. an experimental (lower +mining but also a +damage bonus) vs. an alien (even lower +Mining, but even higher +Damage).
Going to do the test with a stopwatch and data crunch "Total Resources gained" over "Time taken" for each test.

Add to that the time it takes to melee the resources.

Finding the resources is the lease of your time oriented ordeal.. lol

LOL, It really is just about finding out which kind of multi-tool makes the most sense to use for mining. It's probably going to be a marginal difference, at best, but I my brain has the need to know.

Do you think the Terrain edited cave wall prevented it or did the wall disappear when you disabled multiplayer?

Okay, results are in. All other things being equal (upgrade modules, supercharge slots, etc), +Mining Bonus has a bigger impact on the speed of mining Runaway Mould then +Damage does, BUT, neither has any impact on the total resources gained, just the speed of doing it and the Pistol loses out to both the experimental and alien multi-tool for overall mining speed.

In the Runaway Mould Farm I tested on, I received 11,273 total mould for all 4 tests.
Here are the times:
Pistol, Mining Bonus +35 48.02 seconds Testtool*, Damage Bonus +35 56.70 seconds Experimental, MB+30, D+25 44.82 seconds Alien, MB+20, D+35 44.58 seconds
*No such multi-tool actually exists, this was created in the save editor specifically to compare equal mining and damage bonuses.

One thing I found interesting is that the Alien multi-tool was slightly faster than the Experimental, despite the results of the tesstool test seeming to indicate +damage was not as useful as +mining bonus. The reason it's interesting is that the alien gives up 10 Mining bonus in favor of 10 damage, which would suggest that it should be slower than the Experimental based on the Testtool results.

There's apparently some formulaes involved where it's not just straight linear change.
Figuring that out is way more testing than I want to do. I got my answer; don't use a pistol, even for mining, once I get a decent experimental or alien MT.

No idea, but I have that problem all the time when I try to build a base where someone else had one. Even if I report their base and make it disappear, it won't give me build permission until I go completely offline. It's super annoying.

My Yield tests are different.. I found the location, Visited the Pillar to disable the sents, then ran two test.

You were testing superslots, I was testing the inherent multi-tool bonus that all multi-tools have (nothing to do with super slots). I made sure the actual superslots I used were identical across all tests as I already knew what superslots do for mining.
