Golden Vector
Does anybody have one and is willing to and has the time to dupe it with me. I would really appreciate it!

You can give yourself the ship using the save editor.
Xautos Jan 1, 2023 @ 11:35am
i hope redux expedition 1 runs again at some point, looking at the QS vendor on what i can redeem, i'm missing everything on 1 some on 4 and with 8 coming up, i can sort that one out as well.

I'd rather earn my way to the ship than just cheating it in and remove the motivation for getting it when the first expedition drops again.

The simple answer is to use the Save Game Editor if you really want the Golden Vector. What makes it nice is it is a free S class ship on a new save. Outside of that, not sure it is particularly better then what can be obtained normally.

To a great extent, E1 was a proof of concept expedition. It was mind-blowing when released, but it is not one of the better story lines and may be near the bottom for most players if you ranked them.

My personal worst was 7, although it is probably the best story mechanic and concept so it could be number 1 on a lot of player's lists. E3 was also a clinker for me. Mainly because 99% of it occurs on one planet in one system. It did introduce an interesting concept that kept you trapped on the planet, but it just became frustrating from my point of view. It was also disappointed that there was really no travel reward once you did finally get off that stinking planet.

right off the bat, if you want an S Class, the vector is there to be redeemed for free when you have it unlocked. i'd like to have that option to replace that piece of junk C class ship you start with.

While it's nice having the option, it also really trivializes the game start. I never redeem it anymore on any new games, especially not expeditions.

It can not be collected until you leave the first planet and have visited a new system. Only then can you call the Anomaly. That's not a trivial exercise at all for casual players.

The entire start is an introduction with a very rigid game mechanic (a tutorial) and arguably over several attempts or repeated play-throughs, is trivial to beat. There ought to be more randomness to the events that trip a player up at the start, more procedural story surprises especially for long time players to keep things interesting. That though would make things difficult for totally new players to find a common experience.

Customising difficulty settings however can really change the approach to the start for better or worse. Overall that option has been a great addition to the game.

Players familiar with the game start several times over, benefit from the option to use expedition rewards or Twitch rewards or quicksilver rewards that refresh the game start options, like changing the difficulty settings if desired, and like you say, they have a choice to use the items or not.

Redeeming the pre-order ship is however another possibility that helps a player at the very start. However the start experience does not suffer from using the pre-order ship or later expedition or other reward ships as there are all sorts of better ships to collect. Starter ships are soon superseded with often the first ship swap.

Also recently the pre-order ship does not appear to have the Photonix Core pulse drive upgrade installed anymore on any new game start. Probably because the starship dynamics have been rebalanced with recent updates, it has been superseded. It used to be something that could be crafted. Maybe it is still available with further progression into a new start? The photonix core has I believe only 2 bonus traits Power and Manoeuvrability percentage bonuses, which is instantly equalled or superseded with the most basic tech available early in a new game.

Also the Golden Vector like any other ship, is extremely expensive and time consuming to max out. Not having checked recently, perhaps the Golden Vector's start tech or inventory slots have also been rebalanced with the Endurance update?

Can ships still be swapped or passed to players in a group by trading with NPCs as a middle man (or alien)? That used to be one way of transferring ships to other players with their basic original stats. If a player starts a new save with a Golden Vector then it ought to be possible to trade it or give it to another player without modding the game and simply buying back any sold ship, from the NPC the other player sold it to. Something to try as I have not done this recently.

I'm keen for a rerun of all the early expeditions, I have missed out on a fair few of them :)

Duping won't give you the Golden Vector but the randomized ship. You should save edit yourself a similar ship.

If you only want QS, you can save edit to unlock them. If you want to play the expedition. you can check out my guide.

The pre-order ship, once called the Horizon Omega, then Nojose's Crystal Folly (they made it blue for a while), now called the Prime Vector and back to red, is actually now a little worse than the default starter ship. The only advantage it has is the Hyperdrive is installed by default. The stats and value are lower. It has more starter tech slots but total number of slots is 1 less than the Radiant Pillar.

Yes, the pre-order ship is now a downgrade. Kind of feels like a bit of an F-you to have a pre-order that is worse than the default starter stuff, but w/e.

As was said, starter ships are usually replaced by something else rather soon anyways.

Yeah I'm with you on this, getting a S class ship right away for nothing kinda kills that entire progression process. I kinda even feel taking the leviathan frigade is cheating but I let it slide, as you can have MANY of those at one time. A ship though? No, just no. What expedition stuff you have unlocked is actually saved in the games folder. You could find the entry for that item and just add it to the txt file and it'll be forever unlocked. Found this by accident while poking around trying to figure out how to disable depth of field, chromatic abberation and any and all motion blur (Still didn't figure out how to do it). Its in NMS/Binaries/settings/ GCUSERSETTINGSDATA.mxml open it with a txt editior like notepad++ and look for UnlockedSpecials/UnlockedSeasonRewards. Hard part is figuring out what is what as they are use code names and such. This section also keeps track of what catalog stuff you've seen and such as well and how it imports this into all saves (Well some of it anyway). So if someone can figure out what the name of the ship you want is, you could just add it under unlockedspecials/unlockedseasonrewards and have it for every save most likely.

Two options to get it:

- Save Editor
- PC mod "Consumerism"

I replace the starter ship by literally anything with a super charge slot. Usually look at shuttles or explorers as they tend to be the cheaper of the ships. I'll even take one that has less slots than the starter ship if I have to as long as it has a super charge slot. I like the "low top" explorers, as the other kind with the tinfoil hats you cannot see anything in 3rd person with them as the "hat" blocks the screen.

I play on enemy strength Challenging, and a weapon in a non-super charge slot takes FOREVER to kill anything. So its why I aim to get one asap. On purchaises set to expensive, ships cost more, but the value of your ship also is more. Radiant pillar is worth 5.3 mil units in trade on Purchase set to expensive, usually can get a decent explorer or shuttle for less than 1 mil units on tradein, sometimes can even get a better ship for 100k units. High end Hauler thou? those will run you 150-200 mil on purchases expensive.

I'd love to be able to get it too without any file tinkering but I kind of doubt that we'll see Ex1Redux in 2023

I wouldn't be so sure of that, they have all those new Switch players that NEVER got to do Expeditions 1-4. That alone makes it worth having a redux edition of them.

Nah, it's still good. Just for that Hyperdrive you mentioned which doesn't need fixing etc. and helps escape the start system sooner. Seems more responsive flying than the standard starter ship, but that could be a visual impression. Starter ships soon get replaced.

It also looks kinda cool in the red and far sleeker looking than the awkward looking bloated start ship. The familiar Photonix Core is missing that used to be a crafted recipe in a new start, unless that's a bug. It could be crafted like other tech, (even though it's kinda been made redundant by recent tech updates), it was useful and reminded early players or supporters of the game's origins.
