Does anyone know why the game censors "Adephagia"?

I just had the game block me from naming a system "Adephagia" with the message that the profanity filter won't allow it. It's officially the first time that's ever happened to me over all the years I've played the game.

Anyway, the only source of that word that I'm familiar with is Greek mythology. I name all systems based on mythological sources (both real mythology and the mythos of my favorite games, books and movies).

Curious if anyone knows the reason for the censor? I'm assuming it has to do with some other language. Google was no help, it just gave me links to Greek mythology stuff.

I dont recall what I was trying to name one of my bases, but the frustration caused me to name it 'Profanity Filters Suck Balls'

and the game didnt censor it.

Did the same, created a mod that holds the profanity filter dictionary in the TPFSDICT/PROFANITYDICTIONARY_FL-FL.BIN flle from the NMSARC.FE28D146.PAK

ProfanityFilter_x64_v120.dll resides outside of any NMS *PAK file and I believe this is the holdup.

Might be your problem?

Remove the E on spike and you got a alternate spelling of a racial slur. so that might be why.

I thought that was spelled with a 'c' instead of 'k'.
I figured it was dropping the s and adding a y to the letters after is a slur for the 'traveller' community. Ironic in a game about lone wanderers travelling billions of miles through the universe.

It is, but no one ever said racists were sticklers for proper spelling, especially when it comes to circumventing a filter. My only guess would be something related to the verb form -- spiking drinks is a very common use (and used for illegal behaviors I know will trip Steam's censors), whereas the others are all really large stretches of the imagination to get them to fit.

Problem is that there are only a finite amount of words in the english dictionary (and even more finite amount that are know to the average person). So I find it unsustainable if they are just knocking off words due to slang adaptations, new and old.
What also doesn't work well with english would be censoring words for containing profanity,
as you get words to trigger it such as "assume" "pass" or "passion" from one profanity alone.

If you named a system Yoshitomo, that will also hit the filter. it's a very.. selective filter and quite disruptive. it should be able to recognise if a certain arrangement of letters that make up a word are part of a much larger word and the filter should not engage.

Change this one letter and I would expect the censor to let this pass "AdephaXia"

I posted pretty much the same thing but with a tad bit more description of why it might be censored and a mod deleted the post. You Krash and I all danced around that same thing and I'm pretty sure that is why its censored.
