Infinite Sentinel search, how to actually escape?
First of all, I just got the game so I literally know nothing.

Second of all, a bunch of drones came at me, I blew them up and then all of a sudden a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ interceptor came shooting at me while I was on the ground so I did what any sane human being would do(Dig a hole in the ground like a pro Minecraft player?Hell no) I hopped into my ship and flew away from the planet, next thing I know I can't do anything to escape and the ship has aimbot never missing shots even when I totally dodged them.

Long Story short I'm right now on the deepest hole I could dig, covered the entrance so the drones don't follow me and I'm, literally, sitting here for the last 15 minutes.

This is ridiculous, I kept digging in a straight line they just follow me, I just sit tight and they just keep flying over me on the surface...I know they are supposed to be all advanced machines but give me a break here...

Any tips on how to fix or escape the situation here?

Edit:
Turns out it's just a bug, reloging into the game fixes that, thanks a lot for everyone who replied! It's nice to see a healthy conversation with no toxic people showing up :)

Enter the space station.

Your game saved when you exited your ship. Reload your game, they should be gone. Next time don't pick any fights your not ready for, but good luck with that, sometimes they pick you. Making a run for the space station or the Anomaly are good escapes if they are close. Digging a hole works for escaping pirates, but sentinals are annoyingly tenacious. You have to hide or outrun them until the search timer runs out.

So what you have to do is jump back in your ship and destroy the interceptors, then immediately land before the game announces more will arrive, then run. For some reason if you had interceptors coming for you or chasing you and you land your ship the game won't ever register the "escaping sentinels" cue, so they will just follow you on the ground forever.

Just FYI, what you're supposed to do is just RUN. Then keep running. RUUUNNNN!!
.... Eventually they stop searching for you.

It works in both planets and space. Though if you're getting chased in space I suggest just heading towards and docking at the space station if it's near enough, since that is much easier to do. Pursuits will always stop when docked. Later when you get your own Freighter, it works going into that too.

Eventually you'll become OP enough to fight Sentinels on planets and they will stop once you wipe out the last wave in the 5 star rating. It will clear them from the planet entirely until you leave. Fighting them gives you massive rewards.

You can't fight the sentinel starships the same way. So always just run from those and/or head towards a docking station. You get no rewards for fighting them so it's pointless to even try even if your starship is OP.

1. The game now spawns sentinel ships faster so you have almost no time to land before more ships come. At least from my experience with the last couple of patches.

2. The game doesn't let you land if there are ships chasing you at that time, and it's been like this for quite a while.
So maybe the bug you're talking about has been patched out by removing the scenario that allows it to happen? (I don't remember that bug... but I guess I don't know all of them either.)

The basic lesson is to not mess with sentinels or pirates unless you have a specific goal in mind and believe you are right for fighting. Most of the time, best to play it cool and just avoid conflict. Always a good idea to have a backup plan on how to get out of a jam when you bite off a little more then you can chew.

Sentinels are looking out for us....in a way.

1. Fly to a space station.
2. Summon the Anomaly and land in it.
3. Summon your freighter and land in it.

First of all, thanks a lot for everyone for the replies, much appreciated!

Flying to a space station is out of the question, I first tried that, the closest one is on the third planet, I have to cross 2 planets using the boost to get there and they don't miss their shots. I went half way, used all of my sodium and even lost my shields. I almost didn't make it back to the planet I was(where they started hunting me).

Yeah, I don't pick fights because I started playing this game and loved the relaxed side of it, don't get me wrong I like to blow stuff but I play EVE Online and Left 4 Dead 2 for this sort of thing, as I said, the Space station is impossible to get to. Digging a hole don't work, Idk if is the planet I'm in but I can't dig more than 10 units down so that also don't work.
I will try getting in the game today because yesterday I ragequitted lol I'll see if that works.

The "you are supposed to RUN" part you are not wrong because that normally works, I don't know if it this is a thing, but I found a locked chest buried underground, found some keys and that was that, but on that dig site there was a ball/sphere and when I used it(nothing happened with the ball itself) the sentinals spawned, I blew some of them up(5 mini drones to be precise) and they didn't respawned, I went back in the sphere and used it again, thinking I might missed something but no, they just came back and then my story happened. So running is not working this time.

As I mentioned, the space station was my first idea but that is out of the question, the Anomaly Idk what it is just please don't explain to me, I don't want spoilers and that is also counts for the freighter. The station is a good call but since...for ~reasons~...I can't use the warp drive it's just a suicide run.

If you were on the planet surface, rather than flying in your ship, the easiest way to escape them is to find a building and go inside, or dig a hole, and go inside, or find a save beacon (or your ship) to save/reload, or just reload your last restore point.
All of those things shake off sentinels.
...Unless the game decides to glitch out, which it sometimes does (I think because one of the sentinels gets 'stuck'). In those instances the only things that work is save/reload or finding the stuck one(s) and killing it.

You can always check out the settings and turn them down for a more relaxed main game, then play the Expeditions when you want a bit more temporary excitement with an endgame and rewards (for each of the completed phases) that you can collect from the Anomaly in your main save. You don't even have to complete the entire Expedition to get each phase's reward. The current Exp 5 is fun, but the next 2 are more combat. 8 was fun too.

By "OP Enough" you mean the second you get like ANY actual weapon for your multi tool? Even on survival difficulty, give me the boltcaster and I can wipe out a wave 5 sentinel raid with the starting multitool. Hell i've even done it before leaving the planet the first time, its that easy, you just gotta kill em in order. Repair/Alarm drones need to die first asap. Alarms are the triangle shaped ones, and the Repair are the little tiny ones. When the big 2 legged walker comes out you'd think you should prioritze that, but I don't, it has horrid aim with that laser it has and rarely if ever hits you. The smaller ones especially the dogs are a much bigger threat.

This used to work, but yesterday, for the first time ever, it was different. I was being chased by sentinels but COULDNT out-run or out-dig them ... if you dug deep, the wanted level just didnt drop. There was NO way to escape except to get in your ship and fly up to the space station.

Fully upgraded jetpacks too. So I think this has been changed in the game.

Not, it is not changed. It's just buggy; sometimes a sentinel (or two, or three) get stuck and that's what you experienced.

I've used the tactic to outrun and escape sentinels over a half dozen times, just today. But, on occasion, I've experienced what you describe. It's a game glitch. You play around on extreme sentinel planets often, like I do, you see it pretty regularly. Been a problem for years.
NZ.Zero Dec 2, 2022 @ 11:50am
Yeah it was just two of them.
Weird, never experienced that bug before.
(and in my main game I spend almost all my time on extreme planets).

Yeah turns out that turning your game off and coming back again works...but I'm ngl I want to find another way other than that. I think that in the planet I was the..."bedrock level"(Idk how to call the level wich you can't dig anymore) was way above where I expected it to be, since the sentinels were just 10u above me when I hit that bedrock.

Nice, thanks for the tips. When I started a game like this I like to play like it is supposed to be, only then I switch to other modes or edit the variables, I'm liking the default style I was just pissed that there was no logical way of escaping them in that particular situation.

In my case there was a full squadron, 3 small drones and 2 interceptors(yes, ships were trying to blow me up lol)

When you're weak, keep your ship close. You can call it to you, unless you're in combat (drones searching count as "in combat"). Unless the game glitches, once you break atmosphere plus a bit, the interceptors go away. I've never (3000+ hours) had an interceptor attack me on the ground unless I'm sitting in my ship. You know you can regenerate your shields by opening the green drums the drones drop? Green regen a bit, blue (dogs) and purple (walkers) regen them completely. When you're weak and forced to fight, only open the drums when you need a shield boost...save the blue/purple for dire emergencies. A good tactic, is to fight them from the doorway of a building. Or from the opening of a hole you've dug. Fight, dash out to grab drums as needed...get back to cover. If in the open, keep moving around to throw off their aim. Getting on top of something throws the dog aim off.

As someone else said, with the starter gun and suit, you can defeat all 5 waves of drones, including the walker, with practice and a bit of luck. You just got to manage resources (drums), kill the repair bots absolutely top priority, and keep moving (or stay in your door/hole) until you've thinned them out. Get hurt bad, run away/hide, let your suit regen, then go back and fight some more. Rinse and repeat.

Fighting interceptors a total waste of time unless you catch the drums they drop. Don't know why they don't make it worthwhile to fight them.
