Before they would show a variety of planets and people would complain about lack of gameplay being shown. So now they're showing gameplay and people are complaining about the lack of variety being shown. Go figure.
That's why they developed their own tech. Took em like a year or so of coding before they could even begin to properly construct the game.
All the variables used in generating content are not going to appear in equal distribution.
Think of pack opening in Hearthstone. You open 50 packs but that doesn't mean the next 50 will be the same. Sure, commons and rares will be the same but your legendaries and epics will be different. It creates a 'one more pack' type of addiction and I believe NMS will have a 'one more planet' type of feel to it for the exact same reason.
I doubt there is much variety in the game. I mean, show me a random screenshot from the game and within a second I am able to tell it is from NMS. That doesn't feel right for a game that CLAIMS to be and ENDLESS generated universe. Sure it it nice to have quantity, but if every planet is instantly recognizable as NSM, something is wrong IMO.
