How to Play Offline
I am concerned for those of us who purchased NMS through Steam. What if we lose Internet connection for any reason? Will we have a way to play NMS offline, like the Ps4 folks do? If we have to launch NMS through Steam, I don't see how we'd have an offline option. If we will have a way to play offline during times where we lose internet connectivity, please let me know. Thanks, in advance.

The way I see it is, your always constantly online, but if something were to happen, like server maintenence or being disconnected from your router etc, then the game will just notify you that 'Hey, your connection is out, so you're in offline mode now" and nothing really changes.

Then if you come back online or the server comes back, it'll let you know again.

And then for people that want to play the game exclusively offline, there would be an option in the menu that will say something like "Online connection- Yes, No" or something like that.

If you try to put steam in offline mode it says "only games that are up-to-date can be played" So as long as you keep No man's sky up-to-date you'll be fine.

Oh ok....so if my Internet connection goes down for whatever reason, I can still launch the game without having to launch Steam? I hope I am understanding you correctly.

I don't think you're aware but all the games you actually install are in your computer, yes they load through steam but if it's possible to play offline you can just as easily load them from the steam folder. They are in Steam<steamapps<common

Steam has an offline mode

I wouldn't worry. This will almost certainly be an option in the in-game menu.

And if not, you will be able to play offline by going to the top left corner of your screen in steam and selecting STEAM-->GO OFFLINE...

This will let you play the game without any game-access to internet at all.

steam has this thing called offline mode. it allows you to play singleplayer games without being connected to steam servers or internet.

steam has an offline mode, and even if it doesnt most games launch without steam if you want them to, and NMS itself has an offline mode.

And for those who think "But when you explore a world and upload it, what happens in Offline?" well it just waits to be uploaded, until you enter with an online connection again.
Not sure however, how it prioritates if 2 players has discovered the same things, but one or both is offline.. i suppose online players has the priority, or maybe it's defined by time stamp?

It's who ever uploads it first. So if one in online and one offline the online presone gets it. If both are offline, who ever goes online and uploads first gets it.
