Bethesda has done pretty well without that useless crap in their games, eh?
... that
From what I've seen, it's just not the same kind of game as Skyrim was.
I'll get people really angry for saying that, but it has more to do with "Journey"... but in space and with some more features.
There will be many people who think this game is fantastic and will continue to play it. Others won't - just like every game on the market.
What portion of the customer base would you say is the "younger generation"? I mean, perhaps even if only 25% of this group likes the game, it may be "carried" to commercial success by a completely different group of gamers.
The average age of game buyers is 37. The best-selling genres of computer games are Strategy followed by Casual. For consoles it's Shooter and Action.
The overwhelming determinor of if a person buys a game is if the "Story or Premise" looks interesting. Reviews, graphics, multiplayer feature, devloper reputation are all insignificant -compared to that one factor. (Interesting note, multiplayer seems to be a trivial consideration, coming in at 4%.)
Now, I'm not a prophet, but if those statistics hold true I expect NMS to do quite well so long as they don't have any major technical issues more than a day or two after release. I expect server hiccups at the beginning since they have no realistic way to test launch day demands on their server. But I think their target audience is mature enough to accept that.
I get that... but I don't see yet a compelling story in this game... there's no real overarching quest except to reach the center of the galaxy... the player has no allies and no nemesis either... yes you can interract with NPC factions, but it's not exactly what I'm taliking about
