Eating in No Man's Sky
Are we, or should we be able to eat in NMS? If so how would it work? Would killing certain animals give us food? Would we have to cook it or would it be poisonous? What about vegetables? Vegans need food too.

lets eat it

As far as I know, there is no eating in NMS.

It might be interesting to have as part of the whole survival thing, but life is pretty rare, so it might be pretty annoying, too.

No, you don't have to eat because you already have the suit energy to worry about. If it runs out, you'll start losing health until you die on hazardous planets. There is not really a need for more things to manage in the game while you are exploring.
As far as we know, there's no eating, drinking or sleeping. You just need to worry about not being killed by living beings (or robots) or the weather.

Eating and Drinking sounds like a great idea, but playing DayZ with Food/Water added to all the other stuff and survival became a chore.

I think they have pitched it at the right level, some peril, but not a daily grind to collect food/water :)

Now that you bring it up, yea, it would be a chore. I didn't know about the suit energy thing though.
Not only that, but what if you're on a planet with no life or extreme temperatures and little to no water?

um yes because sitting around stuffing my face in a vidieo game is more fun then exploring a universe full of wonder

Dayz is not Call of Duty, Its a survival game. Surviving an apocalypse is a chore.

It's sometimes nice to have pointless choices in a game that don't matter because they can help immersion if done right. If you're gonna roleplay in game eating is one of those things. A friend of mine is a special forces soldier in real life, he roleplays in Ark as a passive vegan farmer tending to the animals and crops in base.

No eating or drinking, the devs don't want this to be another hardcore survival game

But my religion requires me to drink beer and eat spaghetti on fridays.

I meant like a sleeping mechanic where your stats fall if you don't sleep any.
