What is the point of manual and auto save?
It's cool that there is difference between manual and auto save, but for f*ck sake, what is the point of making them separate if cetrain actions still automatically writes to BOTH?

My freighter with old base system that I spend over 40h setting up just got wiped out because of bug that doesn't transfer freighter layouts when you buy new one. Now I can't roll back because the automatic save f*cked over also manual save and I lost of resources I farmed over 40 hours.

Yeah, we know. Have you ever thought about asking them to fix the situation?

well I am more or less a new player and I thought I was just being dumb and not finding out how to get a save game to stay without it being written over.

the better question is, "Has Hello Games even play-tested the update on anything not Switch/mobile?"

Someone told me yesterday that there is a mod for that. In case you can't wait for a fix. I'm just going to hold out till they fix it. I'm almost positive they did not intend for it to work like this. Or maybe they knew how it would work and wanted us to see the results. Because people were screaming for an autosave.

Auto save used to be every time you jumped out of your ship.

Manual save used to be when you use any kind of save point.

I suspect all this weird stuff they added was to cater to their new Switch market. And no, HG has never really tested their updates. They leave that to the players.

does the new auto save function such that people can no longer save on a Space Station, and then use that save to reload until they get the free freighter in an A or S class instead of the usual C class? because once out in space in your ship and when you landed on the NPC freighter, it never saved before.

Yes, exactly.

it was definitely for Switch only. meanwhile we have bugs (a lot) from 5 years ago still there, each planet still has only 1 biome, etc etc. And right now they are working to fix the bugs on Switch, and a few bugs on other platforms that the Switch Update 4.0 created (i.e. - broken inventories). why keep adding platforms when you got problems that date back almost to launch? i'd rather them bail on NMS and work on a game with better details instead of 18 septillion planets of bugged repetition on 38 different platforms.

LMAO... that is hilarious. FREE EVERYTHING BUTTON... but you can't get the freighter you want or one that doesn't completely suck without playing for 5 years and still hoping to get lucky.

That particular way of doing things stopped working for me with the Endurance update. The battle stopped after I landed on the station and reloaded.

If it makes a save when you exit your ship on the saved freighter that's kinda dumb, but honestly it's high time that freighters join ships and multi-tools in being able to upgrade their class.

Oh, you need a guide to gain units in NMS, so that you're able to buy any good freighter you'll come across?

You're welcome.

I made a post today about flying in caves post 4.0 It points out one important difference between the two. I'm sure this relevant to other situations as well.

There's only two things that could make me happy with this current situation.

1. Class Upgrade-able Freighter

2. Cross save Expedition S class Freighter

For all we know... Either could be in the works.

I was able to do a reload and go back for a higher grade freighter yesterday. when you get out of your ship on a station it is not a auto-save anymore, it is a regular save and that is the one you reload, the auto-save happens every minute or so and is not the one you want to reload.
