Can you play with extremely slow internet speed?

I was wondering if you need to log into a server for this game.. I have satellite internet (sad face) and wanted to know if I could play this. The internet speed has extremely slow upload, which can get me disconnected from game servers a good bit. If the game however just did an update check every few mins for online access.. I think I am solid. Thanks ahead for info :)

Play for 13 hours without seeing another player... Then all of a sudden you have a heart attack because you see someone with a flashlight a mile away... 0_o awww that wonderful frightening feeling.

Except the chances to find someone else will be much lower than DayZ.
But even so, you should play online, just so you can name stuff. As far as I know, lobbies only get created when there's someone else near you, and if you're alone, stuff gets saved locally and only major events will be uploaded to the server. So I don't think the internet will be such a big issue in this game.

I think your biggest issue is with downloading the game initially and any possible large updates in the future. What's your internet like with large game downloads normally?

With my satellite internet speed I usually get 1-2mbs download but a rough 100kbs upload. It Makes most online gaming impossible. Game downloads can take days. I Usually go download and update away from home or buy small indie games. I dream of moving into a cardboard box with fiber internet... A man can dream.. Soon..

I would say it works like dark souls, if you play on "online" mode you are basically offline and without ping until you bump into someone elses lobby of interaction.
