Well I was thinking more like land on one and break into it via hacking or shooting, whatever method works, just something where you break in and then get to the cockpit and steal it from there.
Yea but the thing is I don't want their loot I want the actual ship, I'm trying to figure out if we'll be able to upgrade from these tiny ships to gigantic ships eventually. Because the tiny ships while having speedy advantages look and feel like they're relatively flimsy when facing a fleet of opposing ships, meanwhile if we had say a real battle ship then we could take it on no problem.
Not sure at this point how powerful the upgrades on ships are, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could take on a fleet in a hit and run fashion over time and at least be able to take out 1 small freighter or two with a heavily upgraded small fighter. I'd imagine the larger ships have blindspots you can exploit once you've dispatched their fighter support (which you can probably kite away from the main fleet). You may even be able to kill steal off npc pirates depending on whether or not they aggro you without you shooting at them first.
The main thing is how far they would chase you once you engage and how realistic it is to run away if you start losing.
I would say yes the old ship should be there since it was saved at that point, it doesn't disappear, it remains, ok here's how it goes, when you leave your ship it doesn't just vanish, it remains so that you or anyone really that can use it can pick it up. I think ships are one of those suggnificant events that sean was talking about when he mentioned that some things can change and be uploaded for all the users to see.
