so again.. what are those weird blocks that make the game look like minecraft.. i mean.. WHY?!? It doesn't fit and I don't get what they are.. just looks kinda silly or stupid having them there.. If not ugly.

EDIT: Please don't turn no man's sky into minecraft with silly building blocks, i mean.. yeah.. yuck.. :P

EDIT 2: In place of having those appear to indicate resources on a scan.. Why not do something more in tune with the art style already present.. Few random ideas like a highlighted color or pulsing color over an area that fades to indicate the presense of something.. Alongside a digital readout to indicate how much or w/e.. or maybe just that, or an icon on your display with said digital read out.. similar to those icons you see in orbit when looking down at the planet from your ship as shown in footage.. I'm sure there are lots of other things that could of been done that doesn't look so.. plain/bland/boring/non-artistic/minecrafty in it's form.. Which is a childlike game not to be taken too seriously.

I like all the other things i'm seeing with regard to this game, but as said.. To make something so beautiful and have it pooped on with blocks is .. why?

This is a tiny issue, and one i just pointed out in passing with plans to leave it at that.. I mentioned minecraft as a link in for the resembling style I was seeing.. To point out how it just doesn't seem to fit.

A minor opinion that most understood and just made general comments, and a few tweens took issue with it, cause god forbid someone love a product and at the same time dislike a single thing about it.. I was more bewildered in my feelings with a dash of hope towards this being changed.. that was the sum total of emotion on my end of it. But I've lost interest in posting much further on the subject due to a couple people telling me how i feel and posting their replies without actually digesting what they have read.. As if to bend what was actually said.. So peace out and enjoy your perfect world where your opinion is the only one that matters and you by extention have no ability to make a constructive comment without a bash, be it in agreement/disagreement or just neutral in it's form.. While it relates to anothers point of view.

And put on your glasses if you have any, those blocks aren't physical.

I've seen it in another video as well. Those kinds of blocks usually show up right after he performs a scan, so they are probably showing hidden elements/resources in the environment.

You've obviously miss-understood my typing as if to glean that i'm very upset, which isn't the case.. I was voicing my opinion in how i think it makes the game look very minecrafty which .. well.. in a game like this.. makes it look trashy and cheap.. And .. I dunno.. Unrealistic in a sense.. Cause minecraft isn't a game you would take seriously, and it is cheap/for kids mostly.. I want to take this game seriously! Get fully immersed.. I luv it's beauty outside of that.. Thus the quote un quote "YUCK" in relation to the blocks. Lol.

If that is a chosen art style for as you say.. a scan.. I really hope they get rid of it.. As the whole block thing looks kinda meh.. Like.. What kind of technology after doing a scan would just make blocks appear everywhere, as if to suggest resources.. Why not just highlight a color over an area or something.. A marker even.. Like you see from space when looking at the planet, like seen in previous footage, but while on the ground.. A digital readout giving the amount.. Anything but blocks.. da hell? Lol..

Blocks just make me take the game a little less seriously which is a 'tiny' let down on an otherwise really cool looking game.. That is all I was saying..

I hope they change their minds on that.. Say no to minecraft Sean.. Say no to minecraft.. RESIST!! RESIST!!

If they really bug you so much just don't use the scanners and you'll never see them.

They show up after a scan for resources to show you approximately how much resources are in a given area, eg one cube = 1 unit of carbon/plutonium/whateveracin/stuffonium
They are a wireframe overlay on top of the normal curvy rocks and can't be placed down to build something or anything like that.

Minecraft is awesome game, but playing it has a side-effect: You'll start seeing blocks and cubes everywhere you look at. :)
