seriously all items are cards! it would be cool if you had better control of your "hand". example it would be so cool to have something to use as your "hand" and could move various upgrades around the inventory space. that could open up the possibility of being able to purchase upgrades that you dont have the recipe for. once the cards leave your hand though like become assigned to something or sold you could think of it as being in play or exiled. i bet the "hand" could be an extension to your exo-suit and items extracted by your multi-tool are considered "in play". To really make this concept work though there really needs to be pockets of hostiles on planets that you could scout out and move cards into play to figure out how you want to deal with them
