I did notice a snake model in the game files, did not have time to really look into it though. So its possible huge desert snakes could be in-game.

But yah everything at E3 looks like it was pre-scripted. There is a subdirectory full of files titled E3 in the unpacked game files. Despite what Sean was saying on stage that was not a random demo at all it looks like.

Another lie from the developers of this game? I'm shocked! /s
What are you trying to link here though? Nothing in the thread you linked says anything about giant snakes or missing things.

I actually saw them in my game yesterday. They were too high for me to scan. I didn't think to shoot them and then scan. :(

One of my first planets had them in it. Also if you can get up on a cliff or something and use right mouse button to zoom your scanner you can scan them without killing ine. Thats what i did

Animals are procedurally generated though, so they don't have a actual model, and are created on the fly temporarily maybe.

For instance the game could have 'parts' that a animal could have, and the game could stitch them together via codes.

Thats why don't expect stuff like entities to be existent on the files until you discover a planet that has one, and the file 'might' be created then.

This means it's possible that the game size is tiny and will grow as you explore more areas?

Though core components like multiplayer files, player models, etc, are not procedurally generated and should be tracable through datamining.

I did find a tiny version of it on my planet, so it is perfectly possible that a huge version will show up eventually

They are all built off the same model parts which are all in the game files. They all have a root type though.
