Sudden slowdown to low FPS
i7 4790K
GTX 980
16GB Ram
Win 10 Pro

I dropped to about 15 FPS after saving the game at an outpost. Anyone else had this happen? Default setting is for 60.

Set your fps cap higher, not max and don't use FXAA, that fixed it for me... Steady fps 90+

Disable in game Vsync, set FPS cap to MAX. use Nvidia Inspector (Recommended) or Nvidia Control Panel and go to No Man's Sky Nvidia Profile and ENABLE Force Vsync and Triple Buffering and BAM! Game is FIXED! Happy Gaming to All!

I just had my framerate randomly decide to drop to 6 FPS while just running around. Now desperately trying to get back to my ship to save so I can reload.

yeah it seems its a random occurance. Restarting the game seems to work.

This. Not sure why it's happening but just push through it to save your game if you have progress you need to save and restart. It may be related to the shader caching bug bug I haven't been able to confirm.

some what acts like a memory leak plays great for 2-3 hours then bam 9fps

I haven't been able to figure out what triggers it. Only happened once after about an hour and a half in the game and not had it since even after a marathon session.

Pro Tip: when trying to get back to whatever save point you're running for, looking straight up at the sky seems to double the framerate, making it possible to get there in half the time.

Just watch out for long drops. =)

That's what I've been doing. Framerate drops to about 5 fps after an hour or so and I have to restart to fix it. So f-ing annoying. For me it often occurs when getting into a ship.

Same problem here - usually drops to 7fps when getting into ship or when running around on a planet.

I've done all of the prescribed fixes (graphics and config files) and nothing seems to work. The game will slow down anywhere from 10-60 minutes in, but it's always when I'm outside of the ship (or just getting in).

I'm running Win10, dual GTX 970's (tried both SLI and non-SLI modes), 32GB DDR4 Ram (@2133Mhz), M.2 Drive (4 channel PCIE3.0 interface), Intel i7-5960X CPU (16 threads) with 3x28" UHD monitors. Ran it in 2K and 4K resolution and I get the same slowdown.

Restarting is a huge pain because even pulling up the Quit menu takes forever.

im wondering if u are having this issue bcuz you had an error withing your shader files somewhere, try deleting all the files within the shadercache folder in No Mans Sky game folder. Happy Gaming!

Have tried that multiple times and it doesn't appear to fix anything.

I'm not sure what is causing it as when I have monitored the game there doesn't appear to be any spike in CPU/GPU usage or any increase/decrease in memory use for either RAM or GPU memory. It's not just FPS tanking either, but everything from keypress registration and mouse movement seems to just go sloooowlllyyy.

Alt+Tab away and the rest of the system is fine. Alt+Tab back and the game is still in turtle mode. Definately a game issue and as it hasn't been fixed in the patches so far I would assume that it is not trivial to correct.

ATM save and restart is the only workable solution, but that is becoming a little tiresome....

It happens in off-line mode and from what I am seeing it happens on transitions. Happened to me only when I teleported back to my base. Before I teleported it was fine. Saw others who indicated it happened on ship transitions.
