How do I stack items in inventory?

I see that it is possible but when I try to do it it doesnt work. Can I only stack "half full" items or can I stack full items? Tips please!

well, if u have two elements/items that are the same in your exo suit/starship, then u can just hover over on of them and it should tell u what key to press in order to stack.
you can then go on to select the other same element you wish to stack it on :D

I don't know, it's not very intuitive. Say you have two different stacks of plutonium in your exosuit inventory, but they won't stack for some reason. Or does stacking happen incrementally? Still getting used to holding down the mouse buttons to interact with certain things.

My understanding is that (and from what I can see) elements stack automatically, but the stack limit is lower in your suit. Items, however, do not stack. You'll notice that when you choose "Move/Stack" on an item, all other items including any exact same items darken, and you can only move the item around in empty slots. My guess is that the design intent is that items are typically worth a lot of money (at least early on) and the devs wanted to throttle how fast money is earned. So you have to load up what you can and get to a space station to sell.

There's a maximum amount of how much an item can stack. For me, I could only stack 500/500 plutonium for example. More than that would give me 2 plutonium stacks. And there's other items that don't stack at all (mainly those things you found in containers that are worth 10-15k).

I'm not sure if it's intentional or not but items gained by breaking equipment gives items that stack up to 100. The only ones i have confirmed at this point is carites sheets and micro density fabric. If it works for all you should be able to do it for gravitino balls, dimensional matrix, dynamic stabilizers and vortex cubes (basing this of any blueprints i have that take more than 2 to make).

With K&B, X. You can only stack basic resources. Anything craftable, you can't stack.

250 stacks in exo suit.....500 stack in your ship,I just drag one stack onto another,as long as the stack is not at its limit,indicated by the thin white line at the base of the stack.

Yes... suit holds 250, ship holds 500. They auto-stack when trasfering from suite to ship (or visaversa). There are many items (typically with a green background) that are not stackable. There is a mod now though.

If you break tech you can stack some items that are usually non stackable.
