Will it work on Vista?
The minimum requirements say Windows 7, is that entirely true? Will it not run on anything earlier? Is there a technical reason?

Windows Vista and 7 are very similar at the core, so I'd like to hear why this is.

It might still work. Vista just isn't necessarily supported.

If you are running Vista OS, is that really the least of your worries ?

Like me you probably have an older CPU, MB and video card ?... but i built mine using Win 7, but doudt that will help much in my case anyways, unless the game engine uses almost all GPU and very little CPU. We shall see.

But, you should check your hardware against the "minimum-specs" before you buy the game... any game... unless you can live with turning all the graphics bells-and-whistles all the way down and even off to get a playable frame-rate.

Good Luck
Actually, my specs are quite good. This isn't an old computer, Vista is just my preferred OS.

vista is crap,get 7 or 8
Vista is fine. You may not realize this, but it is almost identical to 7 at the core, and has many advantages over it as well. Ever since SP2, it has been fast and stable as well. When you get down to Vista vs. 7, it's really just preference. I find the features of Vista to be more appealing, so I use it instead of 7.

Unjust testimony. If you can't explain your opinion, then simply don't give one. Your post is not helpful in any way.

lol it should be obvious vista has issues It took up more HD space than any OS before it and was slower. In addition many people did not like the GUI. Even a downgrade to XP is preferable to Vista

Might work or might not work. They just havent't tested it yet or more logically won't test it since most people are using Windows 7 anyway.

lol it is hard to belive any one could support vista over other much better OSs

My previous point still stands. I prefer Vista over the later releases for many reasons I don't feel like getting into right now, and I'm not going to further argue with someone who is quite obviously a child.

As for the hard drive space, it is no more than Windows 7, perhaps even less. The GUI is also very similar to Windows 7, and even has some advantages.

Had Windows 7 been released in 2007, and Vista in 2009, 7 would likely have been regarded as a terrible version of Windows, and Vista would have been praised.

Anyway, I'll just wait until it is released. If it doesn't run because my OS isn't supported, I could use DXWnd to convince it that I am running 7, assuming it can be launched from an executable file and not just steam. If that does not work, I could virtualize or dual-boot another OS.

Windows 7 is much better than vista dude. Anyway if you want to go on loving a OS that is clearly substandard compare to other OSs even previous ones go right ahead. Just beacuse you think its better does not make it better and most people prefer even XP to vista

Windows Vista offers Software Explorer which allows you to manage startup programs, currently running programs, and network connected programs with ease, Dreamscene which allows you to have videos as your desktop background, superior customization in both Windows Explorer and the personalization panel, it has a more powerful superfetch, it comes with an improved version of the classic movie maker and photo viewer, however can still run the newer Windows Live versions, uncompressed desktop backgrounds, a much more professional network manager, less limitations for power users, and the list goes on. Seven and later can't do this.

Vista was mostly criticized back when it was released due to the hardware limitations at the time, and very poor marketing by Microsoft. This is why people would often revert back to Windows XP, as their computers were incapable of running it well. Unfortunately, people are sheep and give it unjust testimony without even trying it on decent hardware themselves. Like I said before, had Windows 7 been released back then, it would have recieved the same harsh criticism.

practicality is always better wich vista lacked no one cares about customization and looking pretty if the OS is slow and inferior underneath. Also the network manager is fine in xp and 7 it was only over simplified in vista not made better
