Is this better on ps4 or pc?
So I already own it on ps4 (bought back when it sucked hardcore for 10 dollars at walmart). Never really played it though, not more than an hr.

Should I rebuy it for pc for 29.99? Would it be worth it?

PC is better, mainly because of better framerate...buuut it's pretty damn good on consoles too. PC has mods, so that's a bonus.

^^ That. If you have a good PC, then grab it while on sale. Or just get the updates on your console and put a few hours in to see whether you like it enough to invest more into it.

Depends entirely on how good your PC is... my pc is a potato and the games looks and plays way better in my Xbox One. However I don't like playing with a gamepad.

A decent PC equiped with a GPU 4GB+ VRAM will run the game very fine.

Kinda depends on your pc.
If you have a good one, than i think its easier to enjoy on the pc. (and i do also own this game on the ps4 pro)

The ps4 in a way cant really handle it, its 30fps and the cooling can still only barely keep up, loads like crap at times.
You can force it to 60fps on a ps4 pro but its the same type of cooling, complete ♥♥♥♥.

My old videocard a gtx980, could handle it, but also immediately would "overheat" to 81c for no apparant reason.
No other game does that by the way, so its not the videocard or bad cooling in that sense.

Anyway, i have a rtx2060OC edition from Asus, night and day different also between platforms.
Everything on Ultra, 100% smooth 60fps all the way all the time, temps never go above 50c.
Looks totally awesome.

This forum is replete with folks that can't run the game on their pc. Sometimes it's the specs, sometimes it's the settings, sometimes it's a complete mystery. My pc can't run it, and rather than upgrade it I just bought NMS for my Xbox One. It runs great, rarely stutters (only in huge maxed-out bases) and never crashes. I couldn't ask for better.

If you ever want to use the NMSSaveEditor then you need NMS on a PC. Why use the editor? Lot's of reasons, but the most benign would be building - either to fix a snapping glitch, or simply place an item where the game won't allow it. An example of the latter is attaching a trade terminal to a wooden, metal or concrete wall.

Whenever someone asks "Is the pc version better than ps4/xbox?"

You know they know nothing at all about computers whatsoever. It`s like asking if a Porsche is better than a mini.

Depends on if your computer can handle it and if you want to use mods and/or the save editor

I personally wouldn't want to keep playing it without mods but...

I doubt there are many players who have played on both systems. I know I like it on PC, but have no experience with either console so can't express an opinion.

I could not imagine playing without a keyboard and mouse. Building and managing inventory seems like it would be a nightmare if you only have a controller. Even renaming your ship, tool, and freighter must be a chore.

I don't use mods, but it appears to be pretty easy to have them on PC.

The big downside on PC is if your machine is struggling to play the game. Everyone always believes they have a "pretty good rig, that will play every other game" so they blame their issues on the game. Usually it is their machine set-up.

There are so many factors that can impact game play it is difficult to diagnose when there is a problem. It takes a lot of trial and error to discover what is wrong.

That is the big plus for consoles- it should work without a doubt.

I originally bought No Man's Sky launch day for PS4 but I later bought it on sale for the PC a year later just for increased graphics performance which I really like but I also upgraded my PS4 to a Pro and if you play at 1080p on the pro you get buttery smooth frame rates, not locked 60fps but really close. At 4K the game looks nice and still plays smother than a regular PS4 but if you have a pro PS4 either choice should be fine but the community seems bigger on the PC version (unlike a lot of games). Vulkan support means you can use cheaper AMD graphics cards to get good performance. With the latest Vulkan update my Microsoft Surface Pro 5 with Intel Iris Pro graphics gets almost playable speeds on the lowest settings at 720p. (they're fine for farming/selling/crafting).

I agree. The problem for a lot of people (like me) is that, to play a game like NMS on your pc, you actually have to know a lot about computers. It's all about settings and shaders, blah blah, blah. I was a pc gamer from my first Gateway to my last mail order rig. Played a ton of games, and updated here and there as the games got better and more demanding. But I was never an expert -- didn't need to be. I just knew that pc graphics and features were always superior to consoles.

I sometimes wish for the good ole days, when pc gaming was easy. Probably why I read this forum -- pc gamers are still the standard. But try not to look down on all us console players. Some of us are just old pc gamer has-beens that technology left in the dust. Until you become one of us, keep your powder dry and your shader cache clear.

I like how every poster asume that everyone has top of the line gaming PCs. That's not always the case.

^^^ arguably, the best advice here. Keep in mind that sales are several times per year ... there is always another sale 'soon'. The time you put into your console will not be wasted.

I have a 1080ti but some games that are also on console and ported to PC are designed for console and thus dont look any better on pc and dont run any better. I do have a ps4 pro with a 4k HDR tv.
