Actual Game Breaking Glitch
I was playing No Man's Sky when all of a sudden hundreds of bases and communication devices popped up for me. After that, I was unable to leave my current system or do anything. I went to the Galaxy Map and there is absolutely nothing. I have no idea what to do.

Aside from being some kind of glitch, I don't know how or why it exists, yet it does. And like you I found comments are more about 'what can I do now?' than solutions. But they are out there, generally focused on JSON editing. So a good idea to be aware of it just in case you end up there.

Sounds like portal interference. Portals are very dangerous tools if you do not understand the mechanics. If you use a portal, you must return via that portal. You can't just wander off and do whatever.

If you did that, see if you can locate the portal icon from space- looks similar to the monolith icons.

Could be something else going on...I think if you join an MP game and set up a base- but the other player is in a different galaxy- you can get similar troubles.

wow what a great anomaly or quantum fluctuation, do you have a screenshot?
but of course it would be sad if it breaks your game..

I was able to get around the issue by reverting to a previous save I made an hour before. I did not do anything weird. I was at my base when I decided to go to turn in some missions I did. I turned them in at a different system than I normally went to because they have the AI dudes. I noticed the issue immediately after I was portal'd onto that station. If I ever go to Hofunakab (I cant remember off the top of my head but this is close) it causes the issue to occur.

Edit: Just want to make sure it is understood. I did not go through multiple portals. I went straight from the portal at my base to a station that I never went to before. No clue how or why it let me do that. I also opened up my game and ended up over 200 light years away from my home base (I do not leave that system often). I have to warp all the way back which will be difficult because the surrounding planets had high Sentinel presences.

I have a screenshot of my galaxy map. I do not know how to post it in the comments. I was able to revert to a save so I was not in that system but it glitches if I reenter that system.

Was the planet you ended up on named "Bensavirgin"?

I didnt end up on any planet. I teleport'd to a space station. I also didn't check what planets were nearby. However, I did find this ancient portal thing on a nearby planet that required a bunch of resources to power like Sodium, Cobalt, Carbon, etc. That wasn't usable either.

The system you mentioned sounded familiar, so checked and yes that is the trap system with that planet. You can't portal or warp out, so a good thing you still had save to revert to. Ended up there myself a couple times, thankfully I heard of it before so when seeing that planet covered with bases and comms I knew to back out fast.

Sounds like you found a hub community or possibly a system with a well known multitool. people leave Comms stations around to direct other players or just mark their having been there. These and base markers can severely bog down some peoples rigs. If this happens again turn off networking as these markers all live server side. Also never heard of " trap system ".

Hofunakab is a real system in game and is a trap, unless one backs out without overwriting save files. It's not a community as one can't warp out of the system. Do an online search for it.

You could start a campaign to officially name it that, never have the bug fixed, and become it's benevolent dictator.:infinitoad:
