Is it normal for tornadoes to suck you up from indoors?
I was on an extreme planet, inside a small outpost during a storm when a tornado sucked me up and into the sky (way, way up).
Is indoors normally not at all safe from tornadoes? Or was that just a game glitch?

yes they pick you up and being indoors you get thrown around ceiling :) unsure if a bug or just an experience ;)

this is why my tornado base has an electric door lock :)

It sucked me 'through' the ceiling and to the outside. It would have been cooler if the outpost got all damaged from it.

i would say that it sounds like you were too close to the door and got sucked out... i've not been sucked out of my buildings when i've hid in them while not wanting to play in a tornado... being sucked through the ceiling might have been a glitch because of being too near an open door... idk... might be something to try to repeat, record a video of, and report to HG...

I was interacting with the trade terminal, which was across from the door on the opposite side of the building. Maybe I was just 'too close' to an outside wall?

What?! Tornados aren't allowed to have their fun too?

I usually run inside - bravely, mind you - and have at least 2 walls between me and outside to avoid "riding the whirlwind".

Otherwise, the tornado just has it's way with me, and not in a good way.

i love riding tornadoes! the real trick to riding them is to not use your jetpack until you need to... that's when you get close to the ground after the tornado has released you... other than at that time, i'm along for the ride...
Air pressure. Maybe rendering isuses too but a lot of fun. Just don't stand too close to an open exit in your base, however small the base. : D

I lost a 80 hr. PD save because of a tornado doing that to me. It bounced me around inside my prefab, draining most of my protection in the process, before sucking me out the door to dash me on the ground about 200u from my base.

I usually ride out tornado weather safely inside my minotaur or starship.

This was only the second time I 'rode' a tornado. It was insane how high it took me. @Chipmonk, I definitely can see how in a permadeath game one would really want to avoid them. I have a permadeath save, but not playing it currently. I wanted to get used to the changes first, so I made a new survival difficulty save for Waypoint/Endurance updates (I didn't play at all between those two updates).

@Jaggid Edje, I have yet to start up my current 400 hr. PD save since the update and will not until I have a better feel for the game as a whole.

If you are on PC (I don't know about other platforms) you can conveniently back up your game files, Permadeath in particular before trying anything. At least then you do have a way to return to your Permadeath before anything unfair happens to your game. It's meant to be awkward to restore and it is, but I think that's fair play if you potentially could lose an enjoyable permadeath game due to a bug or rendering glitch, especially on a less powerful graphics PC.

Never experienced one, but it would make sense unless you've got some sort of airlock in your base

Yes, it's normal. Using your scanner during storms can save you. But you never know when the danger is or if you're clear of it during scanner use. Good luck is required for this method. Proceed with caution....
