How time-consuming is it finding Living Frigates?
I'm thinking of spending some time hunting for more Living frigates, but I'm curious just how time consuming it is, as in the rarity of the proper anomaly coming up? (Talking about after getting the one from the Dream Aeriel and just using Anomaly Detectors).

I already know it's a pain to farm Anomaly detectors, but I've got 12 of them so far. I'm just waiting to start the Living Frigate hunt itself until after I get, and fit, a Solar ship so that I don't have to refuel as often when spending all that time in pulse.

Once you activated pulse drive you will usually find one within a few minutes. The key is to ignore all encounters other than whale sound. Once you use the detector you will get a new encounter ever 20-30 seconds. If you do not get a whale song after 5 minutes move on to a different system.

Every system has one living frigate. If you find one and you don't like it, move to the next system. If you recruit the frigate you can not recruit it again.

Nice, "a few minutes" is quicker than I expected.

I was aware of the 1 per system limitation, but I appreciate you including that in your response. Accuracy and thoroughness are two things I respect. Thank you for the response!

I sort of want to get my fleet to where it is mostly living frigates....I just think they look cool.

@Lindy Bomber, I came back to this thread just to give you a steam award and to thank you again. Based on your answer to this yesterday I went ahead and tried for a few Organic frigates just using my current ship (fighter) rather than waiting to get a pulse fuel efficient solar.

I got 4 of them this morning, and the longest I had to pulse in any system (so far) was 4 minutes. It's far less time-consuming then I expected.

Thank you.

I’ve been in pulse for 20 minutes and counting. Is anyone aware of a hard limit where it’s just not going to happen?

The third one (Assuming leviathan and the one from the beacon are 1 & 2) takes FOREVER.

Just tough out that third one it'll turn up eventually. After that 5 minutes each.
And don't go hunting in the system where you picked up the one from the beacon.

I hit the same problem.

Also a comment, while they look nice and can be respec'd and SOME get nice bonuses to things like mission speed the swarm of supply vessels still works better.

Can you land on them, or do they just not take damage on missions?

Neither. To repair them, if it's ever needed, you 'feed' them, from the bridge of your freighter (fleet management terminal).

If you haven't found one after a few minute move on to a new system. If this happens in every system something is wrong.

Just tested, took 20 cycles before I got a Whalesong. Still working as designed.

The third organic frigate takes an extraordinary long time. Budget 30 minutes for it, at least. The first two organic frigates are easy, the 4th and beyond organic frigates are an average of 5 minutes, but your third organic frigate will be an epic saga — read: a slurpee, and a couple bags of potato chips.

Your Dream Ariel must be in your starship inventory. Not the exosuit. And, just to be sure you're not getting glitched, put your Dream Ariel into your starship inventory before you take off from wherever, save your game, and reload. You may, or may not, be in for a unfruitful expedition if you move your Dream Ariel into your starship inventory while pulsing already.

You are limited to one organic frigate per system. Once you accept the organic frigate in a system, cross that system off your list. That system will never ever give you another organic frigate.
