Holo Terminus
So I am doing the "alone amidst the stars" quest and have found the holo terminus, did everything up to the point it says to triangulate my position. I took this as place signal boosters on all the planets in the system, so I did. wrong.

I looked up the quest and it says that I was suppose to put the 1st one down by the holo terminus, and to follow mission navigation for the rest, but I had already placed about 6 and now I cant remember where the terminus was, or even the planet it was on.

What can I do to advance the quest? How can I find this terminus again? Can I just leave it until I find another 1, and start over there? is there another one?

I just did this quest. There should be a red icon directing you where to put down the signal booster. Once you do, you need it use it and select the triangulate option. Then you will see another red icon appear. Rinse and repeat.

You are supposed to place it, use it (E), and select the option to "triangulate position," then pick it up again to use again. If you didn't use it that way, you may still be ready to start it if you select it in the Log. It doesn't matter where you place the first one.

There should be some red symbol directing you to where you should go, for me there were more than one in a system, I have my main base right next to one actually.

First time I did this I thought I could put the signal booster on just 3 different planets (which makes sense), but it wants you to put it in SPECIFIC places which it don't make clear at first. Anyway I just put new signal boosters where it wanted and it all worked fine. It'll show you where to go by a red marker.

It's easy to figure out if you take your time.

Sure I have a signal booster doing nothing somehwere, but the Quest fired anyway.

In this game you pretty much always just follow the markers.

If you can't see the marker anymore then look around for it. Otherwise look on your galaxy map (if in space) or into your scanner (if on a planet). It can sometimes go to another system or otherwise require you to follow the scanner's direction.

The marker will ALWAYS indicate where you're supposed to be and/or what you're supposed to do.

The only exception to following markers is when you need to craft something, which will cause an empty slot in your inventory to light up and pulse to let you know.

Edit: If for some reason you really do think the game bugged out and there is no marker, then save your game, go back to the main menu, then reload your save. The marker will show back up then.

And you're sure that the mission is selected in the log?

until you interact with the first signal booster you're instructed to place right at the Holo-terminus where you got the mission from Artemis, and choose the Triangulate option, it's not going to pinpoint the location of the other places where you need to Triangulate until you do it for the first time. You're meant to deploy the Signal Booster and interact with it and then pick it up and reuse it at spots 2 and 3. Not sure where you deployed 6 different signal boosters if you haven't even gotten the 2nd and 3rd locations yet. Admittedly though much of the missions and instructions in NMS are obtuse and written from the perspective of someone that already knows the info rather than trying to be as clear and concise as possible for new players. That's totally on Hello Games for sure.

After you select triangulate position, you can also pick that signal booster up and use it at each spot. You don't need to build multiple.

Great, so you understand what I am saying. My question is what can I do now? Will I stumble across another holo terminal? or do I have to run all over this planet hoping to find it again? How can I get back to the point where I am dropping the first booster?

Good question. I don't know that Hello Games has ever put a mechanism in the game to do this. The only thing I've seen is that for many missions, if you travel so far away in space from the system tied to a mission, you get the option to reset that mission and restart it in your current system. I know this is only so helpful, but it's all I know that can be done. Sorry. One thing you might try is going to the Anomaly, taking the portal to one of the community highlighted bases which are usually far away from you, resetting that mission while you're there, then taking a portal back to the system or part of the galaxy you were previously in and resetting the mission yet again. This should result in you being able to redo that mission from that step in the part of the galaxy you want or were in.

Many thx, I'll try it out)
