Storm crystals falling from the sky?
I was sheltering in my ship from a storm when I noticed 2 storm crystals rolling around on the ground outside. I jumped out to pick them up and got bombarded by half a dozen more - only 3 of which I managed to collect before they disappeared. It wasn't a storm crystal planet and I sat through 4 other storms there and it didn't happen again.

Is this a new thing...storm crystal meteors, or something? Or just something rare that I've never seen before?

Of all the things I need right now is Storm Crystals annnnd I have viisted hunfreads of planets and cannot find any right now.

Annnd, you have them dropping EVERYWHERE!!! Man that's just not fair!! :steamhappy:

This was added a couple updates ago. It's rare but they said it would give a reason to adventure out in storms.

I do believe if you go into your catalog(?) and highlight what you are seeking, like storm crystals, that will indicate a planet (or planets) which will contain what you seek. But myself, never seen a storm crystal fall from the sky.

That is a new one. Heard of Ghost Riders in the Sky, but never storm crystals. Maybe they added some new type of hazard/reward. I know I saw space lightning recently.

try this, bet youd have it nailed in half an hour ....
(1) get in your freighter and go to a 'exotic' (non yellow) star system
(2) scan from the scan room for hints at extreme weather.
(3) ignore ambiguous ones, keep trying systems til you find a good one
(4) double check using the ship scanner before you get to the planet

definitely not one of the weather types! maybe it was a 'ground glitch' so the crystals spawned too high and ended up loose? Otherwise sounds like a bug or weird glitch but never heard of that either.

but yeah glyphs would be good so we can see if its repeatable (ie not a glitch in your game)

Yeah, I have a base on a trading post in part of my stasis device farm. For some reason, meteor showers are common on that planet. Usually I spend my time trying to dodge meteor strikes, but when they're close to the base I'll go inspect them. You'll see these rock objects rolling around. If I remember right, they're not always storm crystals, you can get other mineral loot as well.

If you're having real issues finding storm crystals for something, you can always pull up the Expedition Guide for one of the past expeditions that had a storm crystal milestone. Usually you can find portal glyphs to Expedition systems in videos. Then you have a known sighting to work with.

{Edit} fixed misspelling. I mean, *I* noticed it...

Give me a second to load in and find you some coords.

Okay, Eissentam Galaxy and either:

The storms don't happen real often, and it was at night. Doesn't help that I'm also either trying to pass a gallstone or a xenomorph chest-burster right now. Memory's a bit shot ATM.

Yeah had a storm crystal hit me in the head!

Thanks for the confirmation tkwoods and Comradovich - I was worried everyone would think I was crazy. Or that I WAS crazy!
The planet was in Elkupalos. An average radioactive planet with no extreme storms and no storm crystals. I could see lightning and meteors falling in the distance, then there were flashes of light around me and I thought the lightning had struck me. Instead I saw the crystals rolling on the ground. They were glowing, but partly encased in stone and it took me a moment to realise what they were.
Like I said, I sat through four more storms on that planet, but it never happened again.
2000 hours play and this game still manages to surprise me :nmsatlas:

I've been struck by lightening whilst running towards Storm Crystal nodes, but I never seen Storm Crystal Meteors.
Another reason to keep exploring.:lunar2019grinningpig:

I've had this happen a few times. I didn't know it could happen on non extreme worlds though.

When the lightning strikes are near you they seem to have a chance to spawn a storm crystal.

Had one glitch a little bit because they seem to spawn in with some force applied and it wanted in my base.

Extra for Storm Chasers :)

https://www.nomanssky.com/prisms-update/

- Lightning storms now have a chance to create storm crystals at the impact point of lightning.
- Meteor showers now have a chance to leave valuable harvestable rocks at their impact site.
