How to find Alluring specimens underwater?
Ive spent lots of time in oceans on NMS and have never seen an alluring specimen (glowy underwater things on stalks with Hadal cores) and certainly never seen 'anything else' (dont spoil it for people!)

I'm pretty sure they have a specific navigation icon. believe its red

I scanned one (scans as a mineral) a couple hours ago on a mostly water world. The icon looks very similar to the icon you see for a sentinel drone at a distance (red). I frequently confuse the two. Some oceans are fairly loaded with Alluring Specimens and some seem devoid. I've used Nomad to cover lots of water quickly and get out to look for them.

P.S. Haven't seen one in a while, but the Nexus used to offer missions to collect Hadal Cores which virtually guarantees you'll find Alluring Specimens.

any idea which planet types theyre found on?
AmberAnvil 25. okt. 2022 kl. 14.25
I think any planet with large bodies of water (oceans) can have them, but I usually find them just exploring in Lush biomes.

ok, will try lush oceans, thanks.
Which part of the ocean do they tend to be in?
It the nautilus the best way to find them?

Scan for a sunken ship using the nautilon. You'll find alluring specimen along the way or near the sunken wreck since that is usually the lowest point in the ocean. Its a red icon, but not the exclamation point like the horrors.

Correct on both accounts.

Just saw some today, and Yes, red navigation icon.
Teratus 25. okt. 2022 kl. 19.24
Yeah I find them often enough on planets with deep oceans, I give them a wide berth xD

Your link is broken. Wikia is weird about its crosslinking. Remove the revision info to produce a raw link and it'll render properly, like this: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/nomanssky_gamepedia/images/a/a8/NmsFlora_Alluring_Specimen2.jpg

Now, that said, yes they still exist. As mentioned, they gained a unique hazard icon some updates ago. I have a base that's got tons of them in a ~10 minute swim radius, as well as hundreds (total) of crystal sulphide. I'll update this post with the portal address and base name for anybody that wishes to visit and make use.

EDIT:
Portal address: http://nmsportals.github.io/#40FD0BB21B57
Galaxy: Euclid
Base Name: Disaywea-Labia (Em/Su/Na, exotic fauna)

Alluring Specimens and Geothermal Vents are everywhere, with one specimen ~350u due south of the base.
