Lost my advanced mining laser

I'm new to the game and thought I'd upgrade my multi-tool. Only after did I realize that my advanced mining laser was on it. I've been teleporting to all the space stations I can and trying to find one for sale at the multi-tool vendors but no luck yet. Am I hosed?

your toon was given the blueprint for the advanced mining laser which means it's always known...so just build it in your new MT.

Pro-tip: you can uninstall all non-core technology now, so BEFORE exchanging/scrapping any of the following MT/freighter/ships...you should 'package' any tech you can for future use

Assuming you might be doing an "Iron Man" run where you won't see the anomaly until after you've maxxed your exosuit, your two non-anomaly options for that blueprint are:
1. Trade nav data in the space station for a few distress signal charts. The red orb at the crash site will spit out random blueprints when solved, and Advanced Mining Laser is one of the rewards.
2. Find a minor settlement and access the blueprint merchant there. He sells a number of early blueprints, I believe Advanced Mining Laser is one.

You will likely end up installing this upgrade on nearly any multitool you intend to use, so don't waste your time looking for one with it already installed. Find a good quality multitool you think you'd like to expand and upgrade, then just plan on putting in your own mods as you go.

I did google it, but got nothing but a couple of youtube videos, and I'm not watching an overly long video from some over excited kid on youtube explain to me something that I probably don't care about.

"Iron Man" - Before you can leave the starter system, you must first maximize your exosuit inventories. This is a self-imposed restriction. Like "No starter ship", or "No starter multitool". Which would be why: "...where you won't see the anomaly until after you've maxxed your exosuit..." It's a fairly common game challenge on both YouTube and Twitch.

Since we just did another round of Twitch drops last week, I took a chance that maybe OP was trying to test himself. I gave him tips accordingly.

I hate streaming gaming so very, very much. It eludes me why anyone watches dudes and chicks play games, and even spend money on the process. But okay.

I'd consider watching someone stream something useful, like if maybe Daryl Hall was giving songwriting and vocal tips from Daryl's Place on Twitch ... otherwise, I only get one life?

did you swap it or did you claim it? you can have several multi-tools... when you claim one, it becomes your default... check your quick menu... scroll to the left to the Gear icon and then scroll all the way left in there to see all of your multi-tools and select which one you want to use right now...

for me, it beats the c4rp on TV... plus i have made numerous friends with strimers and others participating in chat... one of the main things that is attractive is being able to ask questions or make statements and actually get some response from others... TV can't do that and YT chat is just painful...

Yes, check to see if you have that MT in your storage, Hit X and scroll left to the gear, then scroll to the multitools and click on them. You can swap tools. Will take a bit of fiddling to figure it out or figure out commands if on a controller. You can have a total of 6 tools.

Getting to know the quick menu is a life saver - literally. Figure it out and use it all the time till you get muscle memory for it. Works on exosuit and ship especially during fights to fill shielding when things go south.
