Artemis Quest with Tutorial Off
So, yay, they not only fixed the bug with the Artemis Quest (which is not in the patch notes), but they fixed it in the best possible way.

After 4.05 (the current Live build), when you start a game with Tutorial off, the first time you go to space you'll get a communicator message, and you are immediately inserted into the Artemis Quest Line right before you find his crashed ship.

So, not only do you skip all the boring stuff, but you are also guaranteed to find a crashed ship in the system you started in, on top of that! That's pretty nice. Sometimes you can find really awesome ships as a result of that quest line.

Mine, this time, was a decent-ish C-rank fighter with mildly upgraded inventory (it has the same inventory slots as the "cheap" C-rank hauler with no nacelles that I found already). Not bad!

I go so far as to finding the ship, claim the ship and ignore the distress beacon. Artemis can stay there. :nmsatlas:

The thing about Artemis's questline, though, is that it also leads into one or two other questlines, and it gives you all 16 portal glyphs without having to hunt for traveller graves.

Though, the graves do now give you random tech, though... it seems like worthless C-class upgrades tend to be the bulk of them, but I have gotten things like a personal refiner during the first hour of a playthrough, but that's probably like winning the lottery.

On two different saves I’ve gotten the Launch Thruster Recharger from the memory fragment given to me by a fallen comrade.

So, kind of not worthless but of course, it’s all RNG

In my first 4.0 playthrough I got Hazmat gauntlet and launch auto-charger in two graves I found near my starting location... this is winning the lottery :D

Perhaps, but it's bound to happen. Since the start of the 16, an entire nano second has passed, which has had an adverse affect on this Traveller Anomoly. It seems to think it is a Gek with amnesia (how else do you explain not knowing the language?) who goes around scrapping and repairing starships.

That explains it, the Gek are cute but heartless.

Yes, just discovered this too. It's a much, better and smarter way of doing things. They didn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. I actually have no interest in Artemis or the story (I make my own), but it's nice that it's still ther eif you want it.

I just love being able to get on with the game now and discovering things instead of all that nonsense with the Tutorial. Even got to ride a creature for the 1st time ever which was fun.
