Frigate expeditions
Hey :) so I sent my freighter on 2 expeditions so far. I do have fuel in my freighter and the expedition says it needs fuel but I do not see the fuel being used? I might check again in a few hours when my 3rd one is done but as far as I see it is not getting used I think or I am tripping. Not speaking about hyper warp stuff just normal regular fuel.

frigates... you send your frigates on missions... they use one of the 200, 100, or 50 unit fuels...

your freighter and starship, on the other hand, use warp cores or warp cells for their warp fuel...

your starship will use pulse engine fuel (aka tritium) for in-system fast flying... this is where you see streaks flying at your windshield and you cannot turn your ship... it only goes straight...

additionally, your starship will use launcher fuel to take off from a planet's surface... launch fuel is consumed unless you have found and mounted the Launch Auto-Charger module which will charge the launch thrusters via photovoltaic cells...

Alright ty :) well I guess I just gotta check again if the frieghter or frigates whatever it is uses fuel. I guess it does I probably just did not pay attention to it bc I guess I had enough fuel in the inventory :D

yep, all three ship types use fuel of one type or another... figuring out which fuel is used by which ships is part of the learning experience :)

I'll point out that there is absolutely no need to make or use frigate fuel at all. You can if you want I suppose.

So freighters are the big ships that appear at space stations outside. Once you get one the mission usually tells you to do a mission or expedition whatever it is called. Just talking to the guy that is close to the captain.
Frigates are the ones that do expeditions. Freighters are just a coordination center.

Frigates are the smaller ships that show up when you summon your freighter, the ones you can land on and occasionally need to repair. Those are the ones that actually go on expeditions.

And it's fine, tons of people get them confused (including myself at the beginning).

yeah, i've seen you writing that repeatedly but each time i read it, it has made no sense to me... like WTH does "2T" mean??? people use shorthand and abbreviations all the time and expect others to just know what it means but it doesn't work like that... i've only been playing NMS for 1.5 years and have no clue what "2T" is supposed to stand for... uncle google doesn't seem to know, neither does the NMS wiki, or any of the gaming related online magazines that have written about NMS...

i've seen your pics where it appears that you have a fleet of nothing but support frigates... ok... but why? how do you trade with no trade frigates? how do you mine with no mining frigates? how to you do combat with no fighting frigates? i don't get it but i can hope that maybe one day you'll point to a written guide that explains these things...

you can edit your original post to correct it if you want to so other readers don't keep correcting you...

What matters is the stats of the fleet you send, not the actual frigate type. Frigate types just determine the possible stats for each individual frigate. So if you want to min-max, you just have (and send) a bunch of support frigates with low fuel consumption that also reduce fuel consumption for the fleet, thereby eliminating the need for fuel.
