If it has a negative quality that increases sentinel attacks you can also get rid of that the same way.
Alternatively build a Minotaur bay right in the middle of it, set a hotkey for the pilot AI and make sure it's your active exocraft when you teleport in.
Then if a sentinel attack happens just press your hotkey to activate it and watch the fireworks.
You now have a buildable area that encompasses your entire settlement. Which means you could wall off the sentinel spawn area near the monument. Maybe toss in a minotaur spawn pad there as well. Sentinels arrive? X menu, select "Activate Minotaur AI". And now we wait...
Turning off the sentinel pillar could give some respite, but a settlement in a war zone is not my idea of fun, I simply found another settlement, using one of the maps, and adopted that instead.
Every settlement is under attack by sentinels when you first become overseer, you need to kill them all, but only the corrupted type ( shooting normal sentinels will bring in further waves)
From then on sentinel attacks seem to be on a timer, you can see the current alert level in the settlement management tab. So they will return even after you kill the first batch, but it takes a while.

See, this is why I built that Observation Post right near your base. I don't know what you're doing, but I'm pretty sure I should have popcorn and binoculars handy for when you do.
