uses for hauler?
Is there really a need for haulers?

Ive got to a stage where I have a pretty well specced' out S-class fighter, exotic and solar.
Ive been upgrading these (storage) from freighter missions.
also enough units to fully upgrade exosuit.

but, I previously grabbed a S-class hauler when one came up, though it needs a few storage upgrades... but Im wondering do I really need one at all ?

even for trading, between my starship and exosuit, and freighter... Ive so much storage Im not sure I really need a hauler to trade?
am I missing something? an opportunity?

my thoughts so far (and reason Ive not sold it yet) :

- mobile supplies aka u-haul :)
I don't like storage units (non general/cargo) on freighter, since there are times you cannot access them when you need them e.g. when constructing things on a planet.
so I though about loading up my hauler with stuff I could reserve for building, getting it out of my freighter inventory... and I can always summon the hauler if I need stuff.

- future mining
Ive not setup mining farms yet, wondering if it'll become useful there.
though, I think my freighter will cover this.

- freighter upgrade
currently, Ive an upgraded A class which seems enough.. but if I ever see an S-class perhaps I can offload everything to a hauler, so the A class is empty?
... though, I could do something similar with a ground base.

anyway struggling to see, the role of the hauler once you have a freighter... t
thoughts?

Haulers are great early game for their additional storage, but yes once you're established, probably no real need except for, if you like the aesthetics

I mostly use hauler as extra storage...

The early game they are excellent; the late game, no, if you got a superb freighter, teleporter systems, and tons of stuff, you don't need. But till then, when your gather mats by hand without the geocraft summoner on your freighter, you are going to be using it, and a basic cheap teleporter hookup to your inventory a ton as you got to get mats by hand.

Once I can get it so I can summon an exosuit and transfer to the freighter, yeah, I don't need the damn thing; till that time on a new save I started, I am using a hauler more than anything else as I got mine stuff by hand to build the modules I unlocked with nanites on my property. At the same time, I wait for frigate tech bits to come in, sigh.

But I got an old hauler from the twitch stream trying to get a new model from the event. And my god, it's a game changer vs. the starter ship; I got B class generic freighter, nothing on it; really I can't even put in grow beds yet; I still need more mats, lol. Just like I got my first uranium by hand to make some of the stuff I needed, and the man I just parked the hauler near it, put an auto extractor on it and smashed rocks as I still inhale metal plates at this point, so I could not deplete the deposit and gather bits of uranium from stones all over the surface. I was running back to the hauler to recharge my shield.

Oh, I can't wait for the summon bay for the exosuit till then. I got to use hauler all the time, as half the stuff I need is on hostile planets, and I got swap systems and making a new Exo suit for everyone is just a waste of cobalt for the batteries.

Also just use storage system and you can even put a exchange into the ship, although better off mass selling to pilots you run into not the market as it will crash prices if you use exchange. Really purpose of them is a giant mobile storage system. Once you frieghter can do that, and has teleporter station its kind of all moot..

they do have the biggest storage when fully upgraded + best shield among ships

If you're a hoarder you will appreciate haulers. And the fact that you can have up to nine ships. And ten storage containers. And exocrafts.
If you aren't a hoarder then you may find their look appealing.
If you aren't a hoarder and you don't appreciate their look than the amount of value by scrapping them can be a selling point.
If none of this is true for you: Get other ships instead.

It's all about the looks. Any ship can be maxed out on class and storage, and anything over C class is over powered. If you like it, keep it. If not, scrap or trade it.

True - and yet, haulers have the highest cargo capacity (double the amount of cargo slots than the other ships).

At the beginning of a new game, I use a hauler as a mobile storage container. When I need stuff everywhere, I can call this ship.

those with big tanks look good.

Once upon a time, you couldn't add more slots to ships, so haulers had a purpose. Not anymore.
Still, i never upgrade storage slots in my ships, so I still have and use s hauler.

Early game they can be helpful but they are more of a cosmetic option now. Some look cool IMO.

I was always into fighters, Exotics and solars. Never considered a hauler until I actually saw one I liked. They are like tanks and with the right upgrade modules they handle very well so its one of my main.

Same, very handy for when you don't have access to the freighters teleporting inventory.
