The starships are so broken now
Ever since the bounty update my ship has felt like I am not in control of it anymore. The sensitivity is constantly jumping back and fourth. During combat my hits are controlled and so is the position of my ship. I have all of the assists off in the settings, yet they're treating me like a child that can't fly their own ship. No it's not my mouse, not it's not my computer, so don't even mention that. I know that because It's happened on any other computer I've played on. And it's only been happening since the bounty update when the auto locking system was introduced.

it feels like it's never fully off when turned off in the settings. The ship still has some sort of auto correcting system that during combat forces itself towards the target I'm looking at. The left and right movement on feels like there's different sensitivity while flying in space. It feels clunky and terrible. It wasn't like this before. It's been downgraded.

Please fix this, it's annoying. I don't want to feel like my ship is controlling me. It's my starship for a reason. Stop the hard-coded locking on system crap and let me actually control my own ship. It was fine and you should've left it how it was. There was no need for some auto pilot crap system. Thanks.

Do you use tethered or untethered flight/targeting? I also noticed that untethered or direct control feels very different now, however tethered still feels very good, if not better than before.

You might give that a shot? I don't know which way you already fly so... just a thought. Have a good one.

Also, be sure to submit a ticket to zendesk. HG actually listens in many cases. You never know.

ship controls were awful always. i agree, even if turned off everything, ship still "think" for itself. it is not only combat, it is even in simple flying over planet.

i think reason is because many, if not most nms players are space flying noobs, so devs did that for them. do not you see how many posts declare nms space combat hard, impossible? so devs implement such measures, like autodirection, targeting. to the point one now can just press and hold button and delete all enemies, yet still so many pilots struggle with even all helps on to simply survive.

i play elite dangerous side by side with nms and that difference in space flying is just like an abyss is between both games in that regard.

I do indeed use untethered. I don't like tethered, never did. They drastically changed it to be more restrictive, feels terrible. You have a good one too :)

EDIT: mistake. I've been using the "tethered normal" option. Basically the one that has the line connected to the cursor that follows it.

That is true, but one of the recent updates have seemed to make it even worse than it already was.

Wow, now that is really odd. I haven't noticed any change after I turned off auto-target. It was horrific until I turned that off, because it kept whipping me around where I didn't want to go. And, Normal (or whatever - direct control without the tether) seems to be weirdly over-reactive.

I wonder if something is glitched out, and auto-target is stuck or something. Have you tried a new save, just to see if it feels the same? Very weird.

The flight controls have always been horrible. I got the game on release and they are much better now, but still a long way to go to be decent. I don't think the game engine is designed to handle space combat. That was not part of the original game. The combat is ridiculous anyway. You're flying a highly advanced starship equipped with weapon systems you would find on a WW2 fighter, but very badly modeled. The thing I really hate is the inability to get the ship to hover above the planet surface. It should be fun to fly the ship but it isn't.
