The last one would have been worth doing that with if and only if you'd wanted to play survival mode.
You have something like 15 save slots. Just start a normal game, play the expedition when it starts then decide after.
Each save will have some good stuff that you might not want to lose, but where do you draw the line?
Let me make sure i understand, since i haven't been around long enough to do an expedition yet. You seem to be saying that to do an expedition you have to start a new game, and that anything you earn for the expedition stays with that games save? Whats the point of doing the expeditions if nothing that happens on them transfers over to your main game?
Depends on the expedition. Also depends on bugs/glitches.
Does it matter in the long run .... nope.
Ok, so some of the stuff you do on expeditions can transfer over to your main game.
I can live with starting a new save and playing it for a week or however long the expedition takes if i can use the good rewards in my main game. I just didn't want to devote the time to a sideline save if that's the only place that stuff can be used.
If you are enjoying the expedition and don't mind getting some good stuff and rewards immediately or by the time you finish the expedition, it would be okay.
If you really like the challenging start and working your way up the ladder, it might feel too cheap to keep as a save. I am always in the latter camp and just toast those saves once the expedition is over.
If the Expedition gives you cool stuff that you want to keep, then keep using that save as your main. Looks like they finally gave us the means to convert that save to a normal one at will instead of waiting weeks for the event to be over.
If you like your other save better, then some of the Expedition rewards can be claimed from the Quicksilver vendor in the Anomaly on other saves. So it is worth it to do the Expeditions in addition to your main save.
Starting an expedition will kind of just throw you in the deep end.
There are usually a few cross save rewards earned on an Expedition. You can pick those particular items up from the QS dealer in the anomaly once you earn them. Outside of a couple items offered in past expeditions, usually it is pretty much cosmetic stuff you get.
Some of the "Rewards" can be claimed on other saves. Stuff you pick up along the way stay on that save only.
